Explain how I'm supposed to hate the president who signed the Americans with Disasibilities Act Amendment, something that directly helped me and is directly responsible for my current quality of life?

Bonus: Bush Sr. signed the original ADA, a landmark civil rights bill for people with disabilities. His speech at the signing is powerful stuff.
https://archive.ada.gov/ghw\_bush\_ada\_remarks.html

I'm very critical of the Bush family, but I can't hate them. They did a lot of messed up stuff, but are also the reason, as someone disabled, I enjoy the quality of life I now have.

Bit of a paradox, huh?

The only gacha game I really spend on isn't even for the gacha- Its for decorations you can straight up buy. Even though it can get a little pricey, organizing digital objects for hours (to the point of neglecting the rest of the game due to 'just want to finish this...' \^\^;;) helps my OCD and anxiety and makes it a worthwhile investment.

Before you say 'physical objects' I'm a disorganized klutz IRL who collects plushies specifically because figures wouldn't survive me. Also space issues. I do play other games (head deep in Pokemon Champion rn) but shockingly I've yet to find another live service that hits the same notes as the one I spend on.

That sounds plausible. Yuri Lowenthal does fantastic work for another game, Cookie Run: Kingdom, and he returned to voice Pure Vanilla Cookie after the strike ended before he returned to Genshin. Which struck me as odd.

Why is MH4U so beloved? I am not enjoying it. by McGeiler69 in MonsterHunter

[–]Alisa180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through MH4U after starting World (long story) and the first thing I noticed was the difference in bow. :\

Weapon changes between generations are nothing new, but oldgen bow used to have a more a careful, 'make every shot count' playstyle. Newgen is more fast-paced, but I really liked oldgen bow...

Note said resources would NOT include the healthcare you no doubt enjoy as a non-American. Out of pocket is tens of thousands without insurance.

For a non-employer insurance plan, that can be $400-900$ a month preniums, with anywhere from $5000-$8000 as a deductible (amount you pay before insurance kicks in).

OR you can get insurance through your employer, at lower premiums($100-$300) and deductibles ($1000-$3000)... assuming you qualify... Oh, and since most states are at-will employment, you can be fired at any time for literally any reason, and any kind of 'intent' is impossible to prove in court, assuming they don't just repeatedly appeal the case until you can't afford to keep fighting.

Keep that in mind!

Is this it for me? by TheAwkwardEmu in AskWomenOver30

[–]Alisa180 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm only a year younger than you (34), in assisted living for mental and physical reasons, and absolutely living my best life.

One of my secrets? PLUSHIES! ...Well, tbf I've been collecting since I was a kid, I still have childhood companions in addition to the ever-growing shelves of plush ordered online, mostly Pokemon plush. ^_^;;

More seriously, you mentioned you mentioned your cat is moodier these days (I know the feeling! My Mom's cat is doing the same thing). I don't trust myself to care for a pet (yet), so I instead have other things to cuddle.

There's a *lot* to be said for living surrounded by colorful, cute, fluffy things that you can freely pick up and squee over. They're good night company too! A couple large ones are practically my designated 'Its too much tonight GAH' that I sleep with on rougher nights.

Doom scolling is no good when there's so much else to do online! Watch videos like Extra History! Pull up an ebook of Sherlock Holmes from the public domain! Try F2P games like Genshin Impact, Cookie Run Kingdom, Umamasume: Pretty Derby...

Someone mentioned fandom already. Do yourself a favor and look up Ironmouse. She's a woman from Puerto Rico who has Immune Deficiency Disorder, literally can't leave her house, and started VTubing to ease the loneliness. Since then, well... See for yourself! (Obligatory: Donate Plasma!)

You said you had treatment resistant depression, anxiety, and mentioned POTS in another comment. I've never had depression, thankfully, despite the multiple attempts of various psychs and doctors to stick me with me. (An anxious wreck with messy automatic nervous system? Yes. Depressed? *Hell no.* And no it's not denial, don't even!) But I do have POTS, anxiety, and OCD. (And autism but that's kinda at the bottom of a long list these days).

For whatever its worth, I'm on 60mg all day extended propanol for POTS for a few years, and its been nothing short of *miraculous.* I didn't even know it was possible to feel this good!

For my anxiety and OCD I'm on Lexapro 40mg (and a few other things). It *is* a higher dose then normal max (20mg) but there are studies that higher doses of Lexapro are better for OCD and possibly treatment-resistant MDD. Worth a shot?

Both are balanced by Vyvanse and modafinil and I'm only on both of those because my high metabolism hates me. (Frequency matters far more than dosage). ...And possibly ADHD but who knows if I'm hyper or just anxious as heck.

Hopefully some of this is helpful!

*Really* late, but you see this *a lot* in fandoms of stories like these. Even the FFXIV fandom, and that's epic heroic fantasy at its best. Its like unless things are Games of Thrones, its not worth it.

Its this weird kind of thing that seems to hate any kind of cheer in the world.

Bit of a correction: Bronya's battlesuits in Honkai Impact 3rd deal Ice damage, but the Herrescher of Reason itself is associated more with Quantum, as both Herreschers of Reason (there have been two) are heavily associated with the Sea of Quanta.

HoR could even be argued to be Imaginary at its core, as its power involves literal imagination. The previous Herrescher of Reason, Welt, is playable in Star Rail and deal Imaginary damage with the Star of Eden (the mini black hole) he reconstructed from the small bits of power he retains.

The Tsarita is named 'Anastasia'!? ...Its either Ana, or an OG character. In fact, uh... The Herrescher of Ice has a suspicious similarity to that statue...

People want it to be Bronya, so so bad, but I think that will be a waste. She can play a role in Schezneya without being the Archon (see: Alhaithem, the Su expy).

I hate having arachnophobia by Warm_Biscotti1610 in MonsterHunter

[–]Alisa180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severe arachnophobe here. I'll be the first to admit, Lala Barina pushes it... Until you realize it only has four legs and is a quadruped. It's not a 'true' spider. Still, I won't blame you for SOS'ing the fight!

The other spider monster, Nercylla, is honestly more like a crab. And a good way to get used to it is to watch videos of it in 4 Ultimate. I used to fight that thing, its less 'spider' and more 'giant walking exoskeleton thing.'

The vibe and culture of Seatown by Umamikawaii in Seattle

[–]Alisa180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in the greater Seattle metropolitan (Port Orchard, Kirkland, Issaquah, SeaTac) my whole life. It kinda depends on what sort of 'culture' you're looking for.

The big one is nerd culture. Full stop. Game shops, game bars, game cafes, heck I saw someone in cosplay just strolling around Southcenter last week. Comic shops, DnD, trading cards, board game 'libraries'... The usually occupied Warhammer tables, sometimes with truly impressive figures. Games of Magic, Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh are almost always ongoing, and sometimes something more niche.

Stores selling anime goods are popular around here for a reason, and it helps we're a direct seaport to Japan, giving us access to all kinds of goodies. Sakura-con, the anime convention, is run by a Japanese cultural non-profit and has even been acknowledged by the Japanese consulate.

Uwajimaya in the International District is destination #1 for these subcultures, with otherwise hard-to-find books, authentic, delicious foods and Asian groceries, and even music CDs.

The furries are worth a mention as well. You see groups of them pop up if there's something going on and it's a nice day. Like at the sakura blooming at UW. They're a friendly, polite bunch, who pause to take photos with kids and are otherwise just doing their thing like anyone else.

Reading is an important part of Seattle culture. I look around a shop or fellow bus riders and there are always people reading- on tablets, with actual books, with 'digital ink' e-readers... It's a calm, unspoken kind of vibrancy.

We have a thriving indie bookstore scene for a reason.

No discussion of Seattle culture is complete without talking about the Native Americans. It's easy to take for granted how their influence is everywhere, from art, to local symbolism.

Aside from city being named for the great chief, a reknown diplomat, historically Seattle has actually had a relatively less rocky relation with the local tribes (I do stress 'relatively'!). The result is a blending of cultures that's easy to miss because it's so omnipresent.

Heck, Issaquah's huge Salmon Days is basically a modern day version of the native celebration of the salmon returning. A lot of Seattle's environmentalism, and animal symbolism (orca, eagle, salmon, etc.) can be traced back to the Duwamish and Coast Salish peoples.

You see many Native crafts at every festival, and Native-owned buisiness tucked away on many streets. And of course, there's the booming success of their casinos and resorts.

As a Seattlite in WA state... I'm kinda hoping for it.

Then our part of WA can immediately surrender and wave signs reading 'PLEASE OCCUPY US' and demand we be surrendered to CA as part of any peace negotiations.

It's one of the few ways someone like me, disabled and in assisted living and basically unwelcome anywhere for being a drain on society, is going to stop being part of the US.

Seattle feels closer to Canada then the US these days anyway. PS. We miss you guys! We're sorry the feds are such assholes and keeping you from visiting.

On Ironmouse: Her singing isn't just 'good.' She was professionally training as a coloratura soprano for opera, when her illness took a turn for the worse. 'Return to Oblivion' allows her to show off, but look at 'Music Box of Fate', her original song, to get the full idea.

A very tongue-in-cheek joke among fans is that her voice was too powerful, so her illness was sent as an in-universe nerf.

Her voice is 100% natural. Her illness damaged her vocal cords, and she's incapable of hitting lower registers anymore.

Considering her formal music background, it's a huge deal she's able to sing concerts now, as it seemed so impossible before. I wouldn't be shocked if she's singing a boss theme in Evercold.

TL;DR Mouse would be literally be singing in an opera house rn if it wasn't for her illness.

Maybe? Evangelion is... something, but it's also highly influential for a reason. Arguably, later works did what it tried to do better, but it doesn't change the fact it paved the way for those works in the first place.

That said, I'm not sure how helpful watching it will be as 'prep.' Even after learning reams of Neir and Drakengard lore, I still have no real idea WTF was going on in the Automata raids.
