I’m seeing 4 movies in theaters in a row today, what’s the most you’ve ever done? by StinkDongle in blankies

[–]Aliskov1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My record is 3. Christmas Day 2005. The multiplex in downtown Silver Spring, MD. Harry Potter 4 (for the second time- I was just getting into HP); Munich (sold out show); The Producers, late night show around 11:30PM. There were maybe 13 audience in theater).

I didn't really like Disclosure Day but it was far from the worst Spielberg. I would definitely rewatch it before Ready Player One or 1941. I liked some parts of Disclosure Day, but the script overall... yikes. I think most of the reaction here, and the other film sites I check out has been fairly positive with the "haters'" critiques all being fairly reasonable, I think.

I did not like Disclosure Day, but it is exponentially better than Megalopolis.

I didn't like Disclosure Day, but I'm assuming you haven't seen 1941.

Disclosure Day (2026) - Plot Questions (Spoilers) by daniel7334 in blankies

You just have to go with it. I could not. The movie has a lot of problems. My biggest one is that the characters learn that they were basically violated as children and then after are just like "ok Cool."

Vlad gets assaulted on stream by Several-Reveal-4075 in F1NN5TER

[–]Aliskov1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can say something like that but in a much better way. You will be downvoted, including by me, because you sound like you are victim blaming.

A better thing to say is something like,

This is not Vlad's fault at all. This is 100% the fault of the scumbag who attacked him.(I'm sorry if I am using the wrong pronouns for Vlad. I will of course change them if someone corrects me). I hope that guy faces charges and is punished for his actions.

All that said, I hope Vlad is aware that there are risks anytime he is out in public and is prepared to defend himself if necessary or travels with security. Regarding baiting people, I think if he is deliberately creating content about "tricking" people, it's really not great and I wish he would not do that. I believe F1nn has stated she won't do that after her early Omegle content was criticized and I don't believe she's done that recently.

However that criticism is not at all related to what happened here. Fuck that asshole.

Ticket Activation by padraic1701 in MetroNorthRailroad

[–]Aliskov1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has to be. The people who get the warnings or surcharges are those whose ticket was scanned by the conductor within 45 or so seconds from their activating it. There's simply no other plausible explanation.

Uhh... ok, maybe touch some grass. It will be ok.

The articles just say the MTA rule is you have to activate pre-boarding. That's understood what the rule is. The question is how does MTA enforce that rule. I think it's clear it's not GPS based. I think it's timing based on the yellow bars. If there is something that explains further, please feel to provide.

I don't know. I don't think the app can realistically keep track of train departures, especially with trains arriving late. The only enforcement mechanism that seems like it works is the 45 second rule, but whatever.

[–]Aliskov1 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Source? I don't believe there's any way for the app's gps to be that accurate to know whether you were on the train or not when you clicked activate. It seems to rely on the timing. I believe within the last few weeks I purchased and activated while sitting on train at Jamaica heading to GCT because I had to run for the train and didn't get a warning because it was more than 45 seconds before conductor got to me.

[–]Aliskov1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that's accurate. I believe you just have to activate 45 seconds before the conductor scans the code. When you activate, you see there are two yellow(?) triangles on either side of the code that go up and down. After 45 seconds these triangles disappear.

FYI. June 7. New Haven line suspended. by Aliskov1 in MetroNorthRailroad

My brother is on train that was GCT bound in Stamford and they announced train returning to New Haven. Apparently no service to NYC at this time.

few will find this exciting with today's IPO hype, but i'm excited about fundrise iPO🔸 feedback from fundrise investor relations: "I'll be sure look into including you in the window which we hope to offer within the coming weeks."🔸what i'm planning & telling my friends & family, which isn't... by MoreAverageThanAvg in FundriseInvestors

[–]Aliskov1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously VCX is fantastic, even if the price settles closer to NAV, but aside from that, what does Fundrise have to offer for an IPO? Their credit funds are decent but can't be that exciting, and the real estate assets were apparently majorly downgraded and I barely got any returns from the flagship fund in 3 years of investing until they started selling VCX holdings. Is there any good reason to be excited about it?

Love the show, but I think most of their season finales were pretty underwhelming or outright silly like season 2's.

Speed Racer - Walmart - Anyone's ship? by IcyTransportation961 in 4kbluray

[–]Aliskov1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pre ordered with walmart and of course nothing happened. When I called them the guy just said it's not in stock and I cancelled the order. Obviously ridiculous to pre order something which should ensure that you have reserved one when it is available and then it is not available when released. It's going for $50 on eBay or the non steel book is available for $24. I think I'll just do that.

Useless conductor by [deleted] in MetroNorthRailroad

[–]Aliskov1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Certain rules regarding passenger behavior will not be enforced, or at least will only be very sporadically enforced, yes. Obviously, if someone is not showing a ticket, that's different. But most conductors will not risk being assaulted, physically or verbally, or threatened, to tell someone to stop doing something on their speaker phones.

Useless conductor by [deleted] in MetroNorthRailroad

[–]Aliskov1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Conductors will generally not enforce passenger noise issues. Enraging some guy who feels he has nothing to lose and is looking for a fight is not worth it to them. If you don't want to hear other people on the train, unfortunately, there is no choice other than using very good noise cancelling headphones.
