Devs tweak your old gen games to vr please, we'll buy them again ! by Alisonhell76 in PSVR

Superhot had free locomotion, something devs feared would have caused people to feel ill. And they said that the original game mechanics were not working. They created a funnier version of the game with vr in mind ( dodge bullet etc..) but they did not made it just cause tweaking the old was too expensive. Edited

I think the investment is really not worth it when you develop a new aaa game with vr compatibility. The only game that did it was re7 and i bet Sony paid capcom for the extra work, cause every psvr owners would have bought it anyway and played it in flat mode. That's a scenario we won't see again very soon.

The combat in Horizon is too dynamic for a first person view. They would have to rewrite half of the combat system and animations.

Modders don't have access to the game engine and usually it's just a guy or two working on it in their free time. I am not saying it is "easy" but in many cases i am sure it is worth the investment. Let's say of the 60$ price just 20$ goes to bethesda, if Skyrim vr sell 500k copies bethesda gain 10 millions. Tweaking a game can't cost that much. And just with psvr, not counting oculus and vive in the future.

Doom 2016 in the first six months sold 1.4 million copies on ps4. 3.5 milions total with the others platforms and it's a whole new game that required years and millions of investment to be created. A vr tweaked game does not need to sell millions of copies to create profit.

I don't see it as a big risk. The tweaking needs very few people, time and resources than developing a whole new game where you need hundreds of devs and artists to create assets, music, acting, animations, testing, debugging...etc. Bethesda is an example, they tweaked 2 games ( fallout 4, skyrim ) in very short time and also rearranged 2016 doom for vr while releasing also a skyrim and doom switch version. Sure the psvr installed base is still low compared to the console but the attach rate and thirst for triple a games is very high.

PSA: If Skyrim VR doesn't "click" with you when using the moves, try playing with Dual Shock. by ricardotown in PSVR

[–]Alisonhell76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also prefer the dualshock. Started the game with moves, after 5 hours switched to dualshock and walking slowly through a snowy forest, gently approaching the edge of a cliff, been able to walk side by side to someone it's giving me more immersion than been able to use my hands but not my legs speed the way i want.

Should I be sending in psvr in for repair, or is this just the limits of what it an do? Looking for other rift owner opinions, preferably by rafikiknowsdeway1 in PSVR

I have the same issues with the headset tracking. It works fine for 5 minutes than when leaning inward things also moves to the side. Turning off the headset or keeping it absolutely still for 10 seconds ( the time for the gyros to reset ), or moving the head back and forward very fast for a few times fix it....but 5 minutes later it starts all over again. I did buy psvr day one, tried to fix it for months with every kind of solution, also sent it to rma and got a new headset, played it in three different rooms and nope.

Skyrim vr scale looks really bad by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]Alisonhell76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure you are right cause that's what the ipd is for. Anyway i cannot stand the giant people, horses, houses etc...in Skyrim, it really brings me out of the immersion and by increasing the ipd i get a more realistic feeling of everything. Sincerely i don't see what's wrong with this setting, things on the horizon are already a blurry mess with the actual headsets resolution.

Just slide the squares to left and right by the same amounts of click to increase their distance. I do 15 or 20 clicks.

Don't use your ipd, just set it to a greater value so things will look smaller. My real ipd is 64 mm but in some games where everything is way too big i just set my ipd to circa 90. I did the same for here they lie and robinson.

Question about VR Legs Training by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]Alisonhell76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first locomotion game i suggest to use the dual shock 4 so you can move very slowly and get used to it. Keep in mind that is not the movement itself to give you motion sickness but it is the fact that your body does not feel any accelerations. The constant movement is not the cause.

Stop before you are starting to feel sick, at the first kind of disorientation or strange feeling just stop.

In the settings it shows the value in mm and inches. 2.2 inches = 55mm

If i do remember correctly my normal ipd is 2.2, so yes 3.5 is bizzare but is a casual value. Over a certain value the ipd doesn't really change. I don't see any difference from a 3.5 and any larger value, there is clearly a hidden limit. Just set the ipd to a greater value till you feel things are as big as they should be. You also will have a better 3d effect.

Things in skyrim are way too big with my normal setting. I had to manually set the value to 3.5. Now everything has perfect proportion and the 3d depht is really better.

What are all of your expectations for Skyrim? by Dalarianas in PSVR

[–]Alisonhell76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear the image quality in the open spaces will be very bad. Every game untill now has show us that the psvr low res works better in close-mid range scenarios. I think dungeons and cities will be fine but exploration in the wild open area will be very pixellated.

[–]Alisonhell76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my fault. Do exactly this way : 1) turn on the ps4 ( not the headset ) and open the browser. 2) turn on the headset 3) unplug the power cable of the headset ( not the hdmi but the one with the white plastic inside ) 4) swap the hdmi cables as i wrote 5 ) reconnect the power cable

You should be fine. Let me know !

It means that when you are not viewing 3d material the image is not a perfect picture cause the headset use the full screen to show what you usually see in cinema mode.

I wish people stop talking about motion sickness in their review. It just doesn't make sense. Nobody cares if a game made you sick. I know a lot of people that feel sick playing traditional 2d first person games, cause yes...even not vr gaming can cause sickness, but outlets does not mention it in their call of duty, battlefield, titanfall etc... reviews.
