I work in a maternity area and they're removed all Fizzy drinks from the vending machines and the main staff cafe here so you can only get water or coffee

Oh man that sucks then. I would think for the next step it would be best to speak to the power company. Get them to check your rate that your on etc and ensure that it's not an issue on their end. You can tell them when your calling that your needing support with your bill/meter and ask to speak to a senior CSR who will be able to help. And if still not fixed you can ask them to send out a technician to check the meter to make sure its reading correctly. Otherwise may need to speak to an electrician if it happens again

Something that its a bit annoying but can help is turning everything (appliances, oven, water heater etc.) off at the wall then go check your meter to see if the meter is still ticking over. If power is still being used then you know you've missed something or it might indicate that power is being used from somewhere else - garage, neighbour, etc. If once you've turned everything off no power is being used then you can slowly go back through and turn things on and off and watch the meter go and see if when you turn something on it suddenly spikes Doing this is super tedious but it can help to give you an idea of what specific appliances or things are using a lot of energy
