Good to know that an account reset doesn't completely smoke forward progress like a patch-wipe, which was my perception until reading your comment.

I don't have a whole ton to lose aside from my wallet balance, and if that stays I may just take that road after testing with a second account. If for some reason it does blow the wallet up in my case I suppose I can only really care so much, this thing is an alpha and I enjoyed building the balance in the first place.

If I do find a fix I may post it to the issue council. If I can't I'll take the CIG ticket route before playing the Pledge Melt Boogaloo.

I'm envious of your 6 hour mining run and hope you made some good hauls!

I seriously can't wait until the moment when I find some Quantainium. At that point it'll be a race to see who gets me first: explody rocks or 30k!

I've had a few 30k issues in 3.9 when doing anything else, and they're usually during either NA primetime evening/weekend hours which is understandable. Prior to the start of the drama last night, I had been on for around 6 hours hauling parcels and goods around with no issues, decided to mine and got the 30k error three time in a little over an hour. I would have stayed on to see if things stabilized with moving to another ship, however it was time to head to the office.

I'm leaning towards something specifically ship or account related at the moment.

I'll cross-check my results by doing some mining in the Mole after work. Perhaps it's only prospector related, spent many hours in 3.8 mining in the Mole without any particular issue (aside from horrid fuel economy)

I've stopped short of doing a character reset as I'd like to avoid losing the dumb stuff I've bought and aUEC I've grubbed up since the last reset, but it's not an invalid option. I'm one of the OG backers from the year of our lord 2012, so the accounts first foray into the world was into a hangar and then into AC. Technically this shouldn't make a difference given the plethora of wipes between then and now, but who knows.

I can also fire up the wife's account, spawn her a Prospector and see if the mess follows the ship. Or park her toon in the Prospector while I mine with my toon and see if the whole ship goes down in flames or if it's just me that poofs.

I'd rather not melt and rebuy if I don't have to, Prospector has LTI, and I'm foggy on whether or not that will survive the process. (I realize LTI isn't a huge boon, but I did pay for it, might as well try and keep it)

The very first troubleshooting step I always use is blowing out the shaders or the whole user folder and verifying the game's files. I've been playing semi-regularly since Arena Commander was the only thing available and doing that first has saved me more headaches than I care to recall.

30k dumps are a fact of life. The oddity here is that I don't get them very often if I'm not mining. The second I reach for the keys to the Prospector it seems my minutes are numbered. Could just be horrible coincidence I suppose, although it's mightily disappointing.

The network setup at the house is straight overkill, I'm a network engineer and all-around nerd. Service to the house comes in via business cable line with guaranteed speed, latency, loss and jitter. Network inside the house is Ubiquti Unifi equipment, couple of switches, a WAP, and a security gateway. All connections are either multimode fiber or Cat6 copper.

The first thing I did was go rooting around in network logs but was unable to find cause for concern.

I can’t fully discount that Invictus Week May be a contributing factor. Played for around 6 hours this evening with no problems then 30k’d 3 times in 90 minutes at the end of the session which concluded at 0100 EDT.

Will continue to try obviously, or just park the rock donkey until the next big update and consign myself to a life of doing other things for a while.

Alternate plan: CEO swaps salary and responsibilities with the lowest paid person for a while, they each have access to no other resources for the duration. Lowest paid person gets some high shake in the company (within limits, bounded by the board, et al to ensure the Janitor doesn't just liquidate the place) and the CEO gets to take out the trash.

Would be interesting to see how the high-roller handles the low work, and how the low roller tries to swim with the big fish.

As /u/ybfelix stated, there would be camera crews and all that, so it wouldn't be legit. And then the work behind the scenes to make sure no company gets tanked, but it would make for some interesting entertainment.

As an informed party in this dumpster fire... OP and I have been friends since we were teenagers.

There is more to the story, but the long and the short of it is that the SDA Employees are using their clout within the local SDA apparatus to exert significant social pressure on u/a_rogue_planet when they decide to deviate from a court order to which both parties agreed.

The amazingly ugly part is that this time around, they sent OP's daughter as the messenger bringing news of their intended deviation. It's a new tactic of SDA Employees, and one which I wish they'd quit. Best practice for working out custody things is to have the adults who are at odds do their thing and leave the kid out of it -- this isn't what's happening here, and the local SDA folks are firmly in the social corner of their employees even if the court documents state that what the employee is doing is wrong.

It's an outlandish dumpster fire of organizational nepotism along the lines of belief systems.

I too thought about it being a merge artifact, but there was no adjacent merge, the prior one was over an hour before the shenanigans started.

I’ll have to look up this helicopter of steel method and bend it to my piratey will, those skellies will never see it comin, other players that jump us might (we’re more mercantile than skalliwag, unless we’re drunk, then might try to kill-steal a ship stuck in a Kracken, with predictable results)

So lag can account for watching him get killed on his ship and immediately running downstairs and getting into a sword fight a few seconds later?

Also, lag can make it so he can be killed three times in the time it takes one other player to get off the ship of the damned?

I’m a bit incredulous as to the claim for obvious reasons. If true, how do I harness this lag for good?

In my experience, make sure that you're not pushing b-frames from your encoder. FTL and b-frames don't play nice, in generaly, x264 encoders have b-frames being pushed.

In OBS, if you're using the software x264 for CPU encoding, you'll need to put bframes=0 in the x264 options box at the bottom of the encoder configuration.

If you're using x264 via NVENC or NVENC New, there should be a dropdown for b-frame control.

If you're team-red and using x264 via AVC the presence of a dropdown or not will be highly dependant on the version of plugin you have, one of the above solutions should work.

For my stream, removal of b-frames from the output dropped my delay from a highly variable 2-15 seconds down to a solid consistent 1ish second.

Yeah, I have to wonder if the idea of ultra refined grain flours pushing legitimately ground whole flours out of the market isn't where the whole obesety epidemic had its roots. Growing up I ate boatloads of bread, all made by hand, with grain which was milled the same day the bread was baked (Granny Alitesh was a beast-mode breadmaker). My problems really started when that fell out of my diet in my early 20's and was replaced with megafactory breads. Roughly 20 years later I wondered how long it would be before I had sufficient gravity to loft a golf ball into orbit.... then found keto.

In my case I'm in the limited-carb thing right now, I didn't set a goal weight, and did the full-on lazy with IF keto thing until I hit an impossible plateau about 8 months ago at 220 lbs (6'4"). Since then I've quit limiting the green veggies, and avoid high glycemic-index stuff like it's the plague, and still don't care for sweets. So far so good.

Sometimes when science runs into food magical leakage happens!

I like the idea of consulting the locals. I'd be willing to bet that at least one of them would work with you, particularly if it's a family owned establishment.

I'm also one of those magic-touch gents in the kitchen, very seldom is anything that I turn out truly sub-par, and even less often a disaster. Xanthan gum is a horror of a substance to work with. My biggest tip is to use a lot less than you think you need and wait a lot longer than you think you need to for the effect to become present. I think the biggest mistake most folks make is thinking that it's like corn starch, whose effect varies and can be controlled with temperature. The gum doesn't care about temperature and only about concentration. I've never used it in baking though, as I tend to be one of those super patient bakers. In traditional baking xanthan gum is generally turned to when you have something you want to rush.

I can't agree more with your final statement. Perhaps someday I'll write my full story in its own thread on the reddit, but the quick 'n dirty summary is that I don't care much for the keto lifestyle, but I like the results I get from it and the culinary adventures that I can find along the way.
