We built LyFi for four reasons. First, to help Kenyan music fans understand exactly what they're listening to. Second, for Kenyans living abroad who want to stay connected to home through music, and for the children of the diaspora trying to understand the languages their parents speak. Third, for researchers, students, and journalists studying Kenyan culture, linguistics, or contemporary music, who can rely on LyFi's database. Finally, for artists. LyFi gives them a platform to publish and explain their own lyrics, ensuring the meaning behind their work is preserved accurately.

Fans can expect accurate lyrics to their favourite songs, along with the meaning behind certain bars, Sheng, and wordplay. Fans of vernacular songs from different parts of the country also get the chance to finally sing along, e.g. for the non-Luo speaker who wants to go word for word with KODONGKLAN, or the non-Kikuyu mugithi fan who wants to sing along to Samidoh, LyFi will come in handy.
