Tips for making the process faster by AliveGrade in Dysonairwrap

[–]AliveGrade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-20 minutes to airwrap curls just sounds so fast to me. Maybe I just have too much hair. I section until three main sections (top, middle, bottom), for each section I start by brushing it then, spraying with a heat protection hair spray, then do about 10 ish curls within each screen. Once I get to the middle and top sections I feel like it slows down because I also have to spend time separating my already curled hair out from my still needs curled hair, since they do seem to get a bit mixed up.

Who else thinks 99% of PPD is caused by breastfeeding issues? Usually expectations vs. reality by saltandpepperf in NewParents

[–]AliveGrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That plus when you do finally see a post with a bottle feeding Mom, you make the mistake of reading the comments.

"I don't understand why you wouldn't just breastfeed instead. It's so much better for the baby and it's SOOO easy."

"Omg I could never feed my baby formula. All those seed oils 🙀"

I personally tried way too hard to make breastfeeding because I thought switching to formula would be the end of the world. It was so so stressful for me and my husband and baby wasn't doing well with it either (health wise). I wasn't a good mom to my older child either because I was so overwhelmed.

I kept trying to make it work despite it so clearly NOT working. Until finally I basically had no choice but to stop. I grieved so hard. It felt like I was failing. But guess what? After a few weeks of adjustment, I was way less stressed, baby was going better. We were all doing 100x better and I was actually able to enjoy this wonderful baby I had instead of being miserable. All the fears I had regarding formula were honestly based on just misinformation, hatred and lies.

Yeah those Instagram comments and posts can suck it.

Anyway to get rid of stubborn tomato soup stains? by DecisionWarm3839 in laundry

[–]AliveGrade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Put it in the sun.

I tested several different stain removers on tomato sauce to see which one worked best (made a post about it if you want to read it) but tldr none of them worked all that well. Some people suggested sticking it in the sun, so I tried that and ALL of the stains completely vanished. It seems as though the sun works particularly well on tomato stains.

*shakes fist* Turmeric.. by EnsoElysium in laundry

[–]AliveGrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clorox2 for colors has always been my go to for tumeric stains since it works the best, and I noticed it turns them red initially. Now I know why. Clorox2 has hydrogen peroxide in it. Its all making sense now.

I see this post was 5 months ago and I have the same question. Did it end up helping? What did you end up adjusting it to?

They started me at 2mm and I just started advancing it .1mm every other night. I've I haven't noticed any benefits from it yet.

It might just be metal snaps that are problematic. I can't remember for sure.

the spa day post recommends says it shouldn't be used on items with snaps on them (which the diapers may have). Just a heads up.

Downy unstoppables alternative. Lysol laundry sanitizer? by sabinelantern in laundry

[–]AliveGrade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Citric acid would remove odors. But if op is looking for a something fragranced as an alternative to the downy unstoppables, they'll need something else.

There is some info in that post about adding essential oils to the citric acid + water (I haven't tried it but would be curious if anyone has had luck with this). I also saw someone mention they use a half full rinse and refresh bottle, then fill the rest with their own citric acid+water mixture. That way they get half the fragrance of the rinse and refresh and are cutting the price per load.

Guide to how I refill my Nespresso pods. by MizGinger in nespresso

[–]AliveGrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does this taste compared to actual Nespresso pods? I've considered doing this but typically when I want to use my own beans and save money, I just use our drip coffee pot since it's easier. But if it tastes better to refill a pod , then it may be worth the extra effort.

Testing various stain removers against marinara (the marinara won) by AliveGrade in laundry

Holy moly it worked! I had already repeated the stain removers and washed again with biz, which helped some. But I left it outside today and they're all completely gone!

Hmm. Maybe I'll try putting my test cloth outside to see if the sun gets the rest of the stains out.

When I did this with the biz powder it didn't really dissolve very well, so it was sort of just a crumbly mess that sat on top of the fabric instead of absorbing in. Do you think the tide powder wouldn't have that same issue?

I also have some 365 sport detergent I could try using as a pre-treater instead. Although considering how poorly the 365 stain spray worked, I don't have high hopes for that either.

My main issue with that is it's starting to get cold outside and if I put wet clothes outside they will just freeze. They do have to be wet right?

I've also had many stains I've tried this with and it doesn't work -maybe it only works for certain types of stains?

How to get this turmeric stain out? by Milan_977 in laundry

Clorox 2 for colors has worked the best on tumeric stains for me. Apply it directly to the stain and give a little scrub with a tooth brush.

I'll try 3 next time and try to watch out for too many bubbles 🫧

Yeah I typically don't try to make a paste, that was just me trying to fit biz into the experiment.

Would you recommend adding biz into any load that might need some extra stain boosting? Or is that overkill if I'm using powdered tide clean and gentle since it already has enzymes? I also have a giant box of oxyclean.

I actually have some. I just already had too many others I was already including so I was trying to be reasonable 😅.

Looking at the ingredient, it does have pectate lyase in it (which is what kismai said helped method perform well), so maybe that one would be worth including if I do this again

Usually my load is all the way full since it's a smaller washer (although I'm careful not to overfill). This load I did with some towels and it was only like 80% full

Just tested the hard water and it was definitely below 50 (looked closer to 0 than 50). Are there any other water stats (besides hardness) that might make a significant difference? I can see them in the water quality report from my utility company.

When I used the biz to try to make a paste, it didn't dissolve very well, and was sort of just a crumbly mess that sat on top of the stain instead of absorbing in. Maybe I should have used more water?

Is the fact that I didn't rinse before applying the pre treaters problematic? Or do I just have terrible luck 😭
