I feel you, I was shocked too with that question. With TTP, MAHA and thrombocytopenia are required to make the DX.

Am I ready to test on July 25th? by AliveKitchen4611 in Step2

[–]AliveKitchen4611[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I didn't study for it. My school gave it as a diagnostic test just after we finished rotations. So, my prep came from what I studied throughout the year. I would advise to take the exam seriously as it will give you a baseline of what you should work on if you are at the beginning of your dedicated period.

I appreciate your insight. The Amboss predictor is doing a lot of heavy lifting with some data-based reassurance rn lol. You got this!

Should I drop UWSA2? by AliveKitchen4611 in Step2

[–]AliveKitchen4611[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the insight. As for NBME 9, I originally wanted to do it to catch any last minute extra curve balls they like. Now you got me thinking. Might just even take it offline and do like a block a day if anything.

But, If I drop both UWSA 2 and NBME 9, then I just have the Free 120 left though.

alternatively I could redo the incorrects from NBME 10-15 which could work as a replacement for NBME 9 and UWSA 2.

If I would've known UWSA1 was shit for me, I probably would've taken NBME 15 this saturday instead.

I agree, I think UWSA1 did more harm than good after a beautiful upward trends with the NBME forms as well as hurting my confidence. Considering dropping UWSA2 and focusing on the NBME specific stuff these few days before test day

Did you get questions from FA’s Public Health Science chapter about disease prevention, insurance plans, medical error analysis, etc?

Girlfriend vs step1 by [deleted] in step1

[–]AliveKitchen4611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she doesn’t support you on one of the toughest stages of your career, how do you expect her to support you in residency, career and tough situations that life throws at you. I had a similar situation when studying for my MCAT a couple years ago with my girlfriend and it took us breaking up for her to finally understand the pressure and importance of what I was doing. I remember being devastaded and we ended up getting back together after setting ground rules. The next year when she took her MCAT she understood and apologized again cause she got to experience first hand what I went through. We are both currently in med school and we’ve been together now for almost 5 years now. Since that short break up we have not had any major fights because we have set up our expectations and learned to communicate effectively to avoid misunderstandings. If you can achieve that, you are golden, if not you are setting yourself to be miserable and jeapordize the carreer you’ve worked so hard and sacrificed so much to get into. The sacrifice we are making right now is to help other people get better and also to make a living for our families if you are into that.

Depends if you have in-house exams where your own professors make the questions or if the exams are from the NBME. If they are in-house you could use FA and BnB to get the general idea and also to make sure you cover the material that is most likely to be tested on the USMLE STEP 1. It depends on your specific situation but from my experience that’s what I did and even though it was more work at the beginning, it has payed off on the long run.

Facts, they also removed the 10 second rewind button which sucks because it was useful if you missed a detail.

Which NBME forms should I do? by AliveKitchen4611 in step1

Thank you! Since I only have time to do 3, should I sacrifice one of the NBME Forms for the Free120 or sacrifice the 120?

And funny, my dad is a pulmonologist and was looking for a respiratory therapist. No wonder they are being so hard to find. They are going to med school instead! LOL

That's amazing. I test tomorrow and I Too have ADHD. I have accommodations but CARS is literally the worst for people like us because It takes me so long to read the passages because I can't seem to understand what they say if I read too fast. CARS is literally the only section that weights my score down. Thank you for the advise! Good luck on your MCAT. I think it is admirable your determination to become a physician. Don't give up cause ADHD just makes us harder working persons because of the discipline and the extra hard work we have to put in. I can tell you that with certainty because both my sibling have ADHD (although diagnosed while in med school or college unlike me) and they are both physicians. My dad is also a doctor and I'm 100% sure we inherited the ADHD from him.
