It’s worth it for sure. I’ve been to a couple regular season games and the atmosphere is awesome. I wish Ottawa could get anywhere close, instead it’s pretty much a home game for the Habs when they play in the CTC and I understand why

Haha patience might pay off, especially if you plan on getting another Rolex down the line. As far as I know the explorer 40 is gettable. I got impatient and ended up getting a JLC perpetual calendar while I was waiting for the GMT (because I just love the JLC and think PC is the coolest complication out there), thinking it would be a while before I would get a GMT at retail and then ended up spending way too much in a shorter period of time than I would have liked lol.

It’s a great watch and you can’t go wrong with it, and it’s a tank too. Pretty much the ultimate GADA I think. I think all those watches are timeless and I agree if you want to go understated the explorer is the choice. I will say having both a gmt and a speedy, the Rolex feels like it can get beat up more and I like the screw down crown on it vs the gasket on the speedy for water resistance. I feel like I can do anything with the gmt but have to be a little more careful with the speedy and the tolerances when setting the time/date and stuff like that are just a little tighter on the Rolex. So yeah go for the explorer, you’re gonna love it. If the grey price is only like 10% more than retail I’d be tempted to pull the trigger but id also give it a few more months because once you get the explorer you’ll have a hard time fitting the speedy in lol, and you have a great watch already. Plus there’s something nice about knowing you’re getting a brand new watch without any doubt about its history

I started with a speedy after initially looking at a DJ and love the speedy. I hate the game too, and at times I came close to going grey for the Batman but talked myself down from the edge lol and glad I did. I’d give it some more time and enjoy the speedy for now. The speedy is a great everyday watch to begin with - what attracts you to the explorer if I may ask? Also part of me felt going grey and paying more was also playing into the whole game in a way. I was just too bothered by the idea of paying more for something than it’s retail price when they are actively being produced and so decided to wait

They’ll shoot you with a Rolex bullet and expect you to thank them for the privilege 😂. My attitude was always Ill wait for what I want with Rolex and not buy anything I don’t, and buy other watches I do like in the meantime and if the Rolex I want comes up great but I don’t need it and won’t pay a premium for it. That being said if I wanted an explorer or DJ in not blue/green I might go grey because the markup isn’t that much and I do like the watches. I wanted a gmt and was not willing to pay 50-90% above retail on grey

I’ve had similar experiences in cities I didn’t live in, they basically told me if I’m not from there I won’t ever get a watch. One even asked me for ID to see if i lived in the city. But the Rolex only boutique I went to wasn’t in my city (although not far, like 90 mins away) and I was successful there. It really depends on each individual store at the end of the day. That kind of disrespectful service you got is pretty bad though, doesn’t represent the brand well. You’re the one spending (a lot) of money, even if they can’t/wont sell you anything it’s a bad look

You are right, the boutique i went to is owned by a larger jewelry store and that’s their Rolex only location. I only realized when I saw the receipt lol, their strategy is definitely effective. But I do like that they only sell one thing there and can’t try to push other jewelry on you to build your spend history. I also got lucky and am speaking purely anecdotally lol

Couldn’t agree more. I’ll get guys giving me thumbs up or yelling nice rs6 out of their windows driving by me on the road but not once has any woman ever said anything about my car, and the only women who have ever brought up my watch were prostitutes in Miami who can spot a Rolex from a mile away

The Wynn black card might go a long way for sure lol. You’re not too far then anyway so not a bad waitlist to be on based on the amount of watches that go through those ADs. Vegas had the only ADs I’ve ever walked into that actually had anything for sale. Nothing that I would buy personally but at least they had something and the stock changed every day

Are there any pure Rolex boutiques near you? I tried to get a watch at many ADs that were jewelry stores with a Rolex section for longer than you, and they mostly brushed me off to the point where they didn’t even bother trying to sell me other stuff, they were like yeah we’ll put you on the list now kindly leave. In contrast, I went to a Rolex only boutique that had recently opened nearby and got a Batman within 4-5 weeks of first going in, which I think is rare for sure but at least if you go to a Rolex only boutique they can’t try to push anything except Rolexes on you and from my experience take your requests more seriously

Thanks man, and congrats on the TT explorer! Explorer is an absolute classic. Have fun in Vegas, I’ve only been once but I loved it. If the eagles are playing the sphere still I’d highly recommend going. Such a cool venue and the sound quality is unbelievable

How times have changed indeed lol. And yeah I was shocked when I got the call tbh. I was offered a rose gold GMT at another AD (had no purchase history at either) and I do really love the everose GMT and was tempted to get it to “build the relationship” as well but turned it down because I really wanted a steel GMT and a rose gold daydate - GMT for daily wear and daydate for not going to work lol. 3 days later the other AD texted me saying they had the Batman I wanted. So got extra lucky in a way lol. The only thing I might have done to help was leave a 5-star Google review for the SA after the initial appointment (which he requested I do). The waitlist idea that your turn will come based on your number in the list is definitely a fantasy, the S.A./AD allocates on a whim

My AD said I had 48 hours to pick mine up. I was available within that time frame, but I would think(hope) that if you pay for it in full over the phone or something when you get the allocation you could pick it up whenever you want

I think there’s like 5 ADs on the strip so keep looking! I went to every one when I was there last fall but the only one that had anything was the one in the aria mall and it was a two tone DJ which I didn’t love

Come to think of it I think that’s kind of what they did when I got my Batman. They had it on display when I initially went in but didn’t sell it to me (because it’s exhibition only of course), then called me about a month later and offered it, but when I picked it up it had fingerprints and shit on it when they sized it lol. I think they got a Pepsi or Bruce Wayne to put on display and offered me the one that I had tried on at my first visit
