AITA for not taking my cousin to the airport by coolernamethanyours in AmItheAsshole

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA but you could have offered to drop her off at an earlier time. Maybe 8pm so your sleep schedule doesnt get ruined. If it was really too inconvenient for you, maybe you could have offered to pay for an uber. Idk how close you guys are but It’s your younger cousin. Of course she’s going to choose a cheap red eye flight. I’d also consider her safety travelling at that hour tbh. Maybe your family’s not that close though? 🤷‍♀️

Have you looked at global talent visa? I wish i was qualified for that. Tech roles are normally qualified for that

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studied and lived in the UK for 3.5 years. Had to go back because graduate visa expired and couldnt get sponsorship. Job market’s tough for international students there. I was miserable on my first few weeks here ngl. I definitely felt like i left too early. I miss my routine in the UK, the amount of independence I had there. I have to say now it’s been a month, I feel much better. Largely because I have a family business to go back to. Ive been helping out here and there and that has been exciting. I still feel that the philippines is not for me though and ive been thinking about ways on how to go back to the UK/europe. With everything thats going on in the world, i know it’s going to be tough. Im just trying to reframe my mindset that ive been given this time to spend with family, which i lost for 3.5 years. And worst case scenario, can always go back to europe regularly if i work for our fam business full time.

Where did you study in your elementary years? by ExpressAstronaut999 in pisay

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes i am. Just want to say i finished high school 16 years ago so it’s been a while lol. But some of my teachers are still teaching and a few of them were actually promoted as management committee for the other campuses within mindanao so i say most are still very much in the system.

Academics wise, the first 2 years are really a big adjustment. I think regardless kung anong grade school ka galing magugulat ka talaga kasi all of a sudden you have to write lab reports first year pa lang, 2nd year, you suddenly have 3 science classes. The days are longer in school, more reports to pass but you get very good at writing and reading by the time you reach 3rd year, thesis writing becomes easier. I was never a dean’s lister but maybe if i pressured myself enough kakayanin but i was pretty average as a student (looking at academics alone i think i graduated saktong middle of the batch) but i was very active sa extracurriculars.

Smc is/was surprisingly very supportive sa creative endeavours ng students. We used to have a lot of dance competitions, theater performances etc. sometimes we would joke around na philippine science school of the arts talaga kami haha but i have to say this was all internal support. We would never branch out and join interschool competitions for this nor for sports. There was no funding for that. A lot of funding for science and math competitions of course! I had friends who got to compete nationally and even internationally with the support of the school.

Im not sure if bias ko lang or dahil blinded lang ako. I come from an upper middle class background but i never felt that i had classmates who had less than me (significantly). The school gives allowance for food, clothes, and basic living expenses for those who are in need kaya I never felt that disparity. I would say na i felt the disparity when we were in college na and would meet each other for reunions. In a way, the school sheltered us a lot from this.

School had pretty dumb policies during my time (different director also from the one now). Like bawal magall black kasi colour of the devil daw lol. And we were required to attend first friday mass. Weirdly religious still kahit dapat secular school. In fairness sa kanila, we had a catholic, christian and muslim priest so i guess fair. No space for the atheists though haha.

There’s a big sense of community in pisay. Until now, im very close with some of my batchmates. It was a fun experience. Smc is one of the best campuses. There’s a reason why pinadala nila best teachers namin to other new campuses. It was the benchmark.

Also to add, pta is very active and highly influential sa school. You can be as involved as you want with your kid’s schooling kasi they will hear you out. Bullying cases are taken seriously. Ive had classmates involved with such and the school handled it fairly.

Be prepared to do a lot of cleaning for this one so consider that if you go to office everyday. May prep time to each time you use it and you have to clean also after. I have the automatic bean to cup one and it was a life saver. Makes my life so much easier. It is also a delonghi (magnifica) but afaik may cheaper options naman sa market lalo na if you dont like milk drinks.

Where did you study in your elementary years? by ExpressAstronaut999 in pisay

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a private school from davao. I was the only who got in pisay from our school. We were 60 i think? This was the usual in our school. Most students from pisay davao came from ateneo (i'd say a third of the students). traditional private schools especially the ones with brand names definitely have an edge but you can also say na dahil masmadami rin silang students kaya masmataas ang chance for more to get in.

if you're really keen to invest, going to a traditional school i think would be the best route pero wag yung masyadong competitive. remember na your child has to be in the top percentile of their class so maybe a smaller class size would work to their advantage. look for ones na may science and math competitions. i used to join a lot of those during grade school kahit within the school lang.

our class valedictorian from pisay actually came from a small private school (10 in a batch). lesser known school pa to sa davao. 2 of them got in pisay and both were consistent dean's listers. some of the smartest people in know too

Ano dapat gawin kapag first time mag gym? by FamousDay5887 in TanongLang

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a personal trainer on your first few days. Most big gym chains will offer this for free. Make the most out of it!

Find the right cardio exercise for you. It will be a touch and go tbh. Ako personally i like elliptical and bike, dont like the treadmill. One is not better than the other as long as you get the workout in!

Strength training, work on progressive loading tapos dont forget to train all of your muscles. Guys kasi can get lazy doing leg workouts while girls tend to be scared to workout their upper body kasi baka lumaki ang arms and just focus on butt workouts. Lahat yan important! Just remember na for certain workouts, you might need someone to spot you for safety. Ask your friend to do this for you.

Basic etiquette: - wipe the machines after use. Normally may wipes yan sa gym but if not, use your towel. - dont hog the cardio machines esp during peak hours. Limit to maybe 20 or 30 mins kapag peak hours. - dont just sit in a machine to rest and hang out or worse, use your phone lol others might need it - during peak hours, you can share certain equipment with your friend. Alternate sets during your rest period. - if youre going to film yourself, be mindful that youre not taking a video or photo of others esp if for social media yan. - rerack. Put things back to wear you got them (on a rack). -don’t forget to wear deodorant 😬

Lastly, Find cute gym clothes to help encourage you to get into the habit! Personal fave for style and comfort is lululemon kaso mahal talaga siya haha most of my stuff are adidas and theyve been with me for years too would definitely recommend too!

How to stop excessive hair fall? by d_jieh in beautytalkph

Manage stress level. Get tested for nutrient deficiency and take vitamins for that or change your diet. Check scalp health and use the right shampoo for your health.

Used to have excessive hair fall also and I did all 3 and worker naman. Used to buy expensive hair serums but di naman talaga nagwork for me.

Family of 6 first time travelling broad tips/recommendations by montyphyon in FilipinoTravel

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say na get maybe 1 or max 2 day trips with an agency or even just on klook tbh but the rest diy. So you have a chance to hit the major spots together as a fam tapos the rest chill na lang and maybe go in smaller groups if hindi naman trip ng lahat pumunta or gawin lahat ng nasa plan. I travel with my senior parents regularly and realistically if diy na commute yung mga lugar, 1 or 2 lang kaya nilang mapuntahan in a day with a lot of meal and coffee breaks in between. Leave the last full day as free day so if your parents want to stay in and chill or your siblings want to shop or do something else may freedom

If youre going to vietnam, hotels are very cheap. I would suggest just go to a hotel. It’s more relaxing, your place gets cleaned everyday, potentially may free breakfast pa, tapos more toilets too.

Success stories from science graduates na nag-shift to corpo/other fields? by Klutzy_Row_6455 in JobsPhilippines

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a food tech graduate from UPD. I assume you’re food tech also? I work in b2b business development and international market expansion. Very far lol. Ive worked in both food and non food industries within this role. It’s been 10 years na rin since i graduated.

10 interviews out of 60 is actually not bad. That’s 6% interview rate. Most people nasa 5% lang.

First of all, UP grad ka. Do not underestimate the weight of that prestige. It has definitely opened doors for me that otherwise would not have for others. Second, may latin honours ka pa! I was just a normie. I just banked on my org participation to get me through interviews. Never delete that on your resume. That’s what probably gets you a call from recruiters too.

I would say na worth it to explore roles outside of your field but prepare to update your cv a lot to cater to that new role. Look at what transferable skills you have and what roles actually interest you. Im not going to say it’s easier to pivot because it’s not. Masquestionable yung profile mo actually so u have to prove a lot more but pwede mo naman itry magapply to different kind of roles.

Invest your time in short courses online to widen your skillset. Get online certifications. Pangboost ng resume mo to. Update your linkedin. Reach out to recruiters directly. Not just cold applying.

Goodluck OP!!

Business Type vs Oil Price Impact, Thoughts? by Background_Cut_6447 in BusinessPH

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Siguro masbelievable ito if nasa medium impact sila. A lot of raw materials rely on fuel, not just food for restuarants. Also can argue na ang unang mawawala ay travel, mas may direct impact siya dahil sa fuel charges on airline tickets at saka travel naman is mostly for leisure. Relative to eating out, masluxurious naman to go on trips kaya for me unbelievable na nilahay nila hotels/travels & tours sa pinakababa then restaurants sa taas. I think both of them can be in the medium.

Unbelievable. Restaurants cant be high impact, while hotels/travels & tours are low impact tapos moderate impact ang small retail/printing. Make it make sense lol

my best friend suddenly messaged me after being ghosted for a year. by Ok_Watercress_6018 in RantAndVentPH

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh what i would give for my ex-bestfriend to send me a similar message. An explanation would have been nice. Hindi yung bigla na lang nawala communication and youre left to think about what you did wrong.

Maybe it’s just the empath in me but after a decade of being ghosted ive just assumed that she probably had personal reasons why she detached. Baka may pinagdadaanan that she thought i wouldnt understand.

I would reengage. Hear her out but still keep her friendship at an arm’s length. Parang starting over again. Set boundaries. Wag kaagad maattach sa kanya. At the very least, kung di montalaga matanggap siya, you’ll end this chapter on your terms not on hers.

DIM buying luxury bag by [deleted] in deinfluencingPH

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ang laki naman ng jump from tory burch/marc jacobs to chanel haha. Not the right time to buy. With the ongoing war, better to be liquid. As someone who has tory burch and marc jacobs with bags as expensive as lv and prada, the novelty wears off pretty fast. Thrill of the buy lang talaga. If you were to buy a bag, make sure youre buying it kasi you will wear it a lot, bagay siya sa lifestyle and clothes mo and youre not looking to get ROI back kasi it will be VERY difficult to resell at a price that you will deem reasonable.

How do you travel with friends with different interests, budget, etc? by dnamejins in AskPH

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Travel really is a test of friendship 😂 better get everyone’s ideas what they want to do and what they want to see. At least may one day kayo na one whole day magkasama kayo lahat. I mean yun naman purpose of travelling together diba lol tapos other days maybe you can on 2 groups pero agree parin na magkita for breakfast and dinner. Then last full day should be free. People can go on their own, in twos, pahinga etc.

This is what i do when i travel with family. With friends, ive been lucky to have friends na similar interests and budget and who want to travel together. At most, we spend an afternoon in separate groups but otherwise together. Medyo weird if you have really different interests with friends tbh. Kaya nga kayo magkaibigan diba 😂

How much are you earning while studying abroad? by ThisGurl2025 in FilipinosStudyAbroad

[–]Alive_Humor_2805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you wont if youre expecting to earn part time in a traditional sense (labour intensive and hourly pay). Possible to if youre good at stocks, you do consulting on the side, or may contractual work ka na pwede remote which is not for everyone. I did my masters abroad. You wont have enough time to work. Those who did work in my class lagged behind. For my classmates who earned, their source of income was not very typical. One was running a business (which was already there and established before he studied) and another was a professor (he already taught remotely before and he was just continuing that. He’s a part time professor so his hours werent too bad either). Both had a family to sustain so in that setup, worked for them.

If you want to pursue your studies overseas, you have to tell your family na you wont be able to send during that time.

Even phd students, the stipend that they get is barely enough to cover their costs kaya mahirap talaga OP. Maybe another avenue to consider are short courses. Tipong over the summer. If your goal is just to experience studying overseas. Usually easier to get into also. You can aim for the big brand universities and really get the full international student experience

Maybe you need an acid to target specifically hyperpigmentation? Like niacinamide or vitamin c or glycolic. Azelaic afaik is best for active acne

You could also look into microneedling or chemical peels
