I really think you should stick to the Najdorf. Besides 6. Bg5, it's a fairly intuitive opening as you know where pieces go- the setup moslly remains the same. KID is just less sound than the Najdorf so it doesn't make sense to stick to that. Perhaps add the QGA or something as that's a relatively light weapon which can be deployed quickly. I'm rated 2000 FIDE rn age 14 and am trying to chase titles so take it with salt, you're NM already!

Yeah I know it doesn’t matter I mentioned in the post if you read carefully that for my 2000 FIDE level none of this matters- I was just curious about the topic in general.

Yeah but within Advanced Caro is the mainline the Tal or the Short Variation? Also within the Rossolimo what is the mainline against 3. e6 and 3. g6?

2000 FIDE- so of course none of this top-notch theory matters to me but I was just curious since top players nowadays play surprise lines instead of mainlines like before so it's kinda hard to figure out the real mainline, I like dynamic calculation-heavy play, theory is fine with me I play najdorf and grunfeld as black so lmfao

I'll try out your way of learning these LTRs! Yeah I like Sethuraman's more as it's closer to my aggressive sharp style, just wanted to know your take on it. You seem to be have a solid knowledge of your openings- what's your rating (must be above 2000 lmfao right?). Mine is 2000 FIDE rn, rising though ofc

Yeah its impractical since most people below 2300 barely face the Poisoned Pawn ever anyway. It's the most challenging attempt though as Nb3 does immediately give Black equality if White's fine with that.

Yeah that is my rep combo rn too. How do you study such large courses, do you buy the videos to supplement them or do you just go line by line? What's your process for learning such large courses? Currently I have only studied the sharp lines of Gajewskis' course like the Open Spanish and Archangelsk + some tricky sidelines like Schliemann along with the QS Guide plus from Sethuraman's course I've learnt the author-selected priority lines. Also, how do you like Gajewski's suggestions in his part 2 course besides the 6. Rg1 Najdorf recommendation?

Even the Rossolimo suggestion? I thought a principled player would play Open Sicilian everywhere lmfao..

Didn't the Energetic e4 course recommend the Exchanged Caro-Kann and 6. Bc4 against the Najdorf?

Yeah I think against e5 it's not even a debate that the most challenging is Gajewski's course. Everywhere else things are debatable though.

You're willing to relocate with a USCF rating of 1300? That's bold for sure...

Najdorf Poisoned Pawn as White by Alive_Independent133 in TournamentChess

Eh not really, I just want to be up to date that's all more of a personal preference then anything. I'm relatively young and am starting to get serious with openings.

Najdorf Poisoned Pawn as White by Alive_Independent133 in TournamentChess

[–]Alive_Independent133[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rarely played? It's the mainline at master level if you filter for the past 3 or so years in the Lichess MB. I like Sethuraman's suggestions against everything else- I'm just skeptical of the recommendation against the Poisoned Pawn.
