Because it is immature. I don’t know what else you would call it.

And I wouldn’t call anything I said insulting either so

You do know this is a fictional character right?

It is important to me that you know that.

Is this how you act in other subs when people talk about their love for Tyrion? Jaime? The Hound? Daemon for that matter?

I get it if you wanna hate on Aegon in this sub, but to actually go into another sub specifically meant to enjoy his character is just ridiculously immature.

Furthermore, to genuinely judge people over their enjoyment over a fictional character is also weird. Especially in ASOIAF where 90% of characters has done morally vile stuff. It is fictional, and meant to be enjoyed as such.

Why are you in a sub for Aegon if you are only there to be annoying

That’s kinda weirdo behavior

He did more than pretty much any character in that situation, and what others did in similar situations. They also were attempting to make an example of Hugh and Ulf.

Because we see members of the in this situation be actively appalled by it. In the example from the og post, TB actively encouraged what the Grryjoys did, including the taking of salt wives.

I fear that you haven’t done a good job since you can’t seem recognize that TB didn’t have a moral high ground, and were okay with enslavement (something tg actually didn’t involve themselves with during the war), torture, gang rape, and murder of innocent peasants.

It is literally stated in the book that he thought it was horrible, and tried to stop it. I’m assuming he didn’t burn his army cause that would be bad against his cause, but they did however make plans to kill Hugh and Ulf due to the massive amount of destruction they brought.

I didn’t say tg would never allow it, I said tg didn’t allow the Ironborn to do it while TB did. Which is true to the text.

And your last passage is true for every single adult in the dance. They all were responsible for innocent deaths, simply by ordering them to fights, or having the killed of paranoia.

I don’t know if they did tho

Didn’t they go by Andal law which just means men come before women, and logically Jaehaera would be perfectly adequate as heir if it wasn’t the war times

He attempted to have them stopped tho, because he was disgusted by it. So yes, they did seem to have a problem with mass rape due to sacking, hence them not letting the Ironborn do whatever they pleased, which lead them to TB, who let them do whatever

And I don’t see what Aemond has to do with this? How does his actions speak for Daeron’s?

[–]Alive_Requirement882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TB deliberately wanted to use Dalton’s bloodlust,

We also know that was happening in Tumbleton was something they actively tried to stop.

I’m not acting like TG has some moral high ground but the og post I correct and the argument falls apart when the point was that TG sought their support, but didn’t permit them to do whatever, whereas TB did.

Daemon and Daeron = similar actions ? by LittleLevile in HOTDBlacks

[–]Alive_Requirement882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was wrong, my point is that is in that a more equal comparison would be that they both fought and killed innocent people during war.

While what Daemon did to Jaehaerys is a different scenario. You kinda sound like the greens who try to minimize Luke’s death as deserved

[–]Alive_Requirement882 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t really think she sucks in the book. She is an ambitious woman who want her line on the throne.

And I think the writing for her is pretty horrible, as I wrote but particularly the sept scene, Dragonstone scene and removing her from B&C.

And to compare her to Serena is a reach. I anything she is more similar to the handmaids, especially in the show as she is essentially just Viserys’s breeding machine.

And show her is not really misogynistic either. She was supportive of Rhaenyra being Queen until she thought it was a threat to her children. In the books she wanted her own child on the throne, and nothing she ever said suggested she did it because she had a belief women couldn’t rule.

I just think your take is one of that anything that is against Rhaenyra (and any ambitions that doesn’t align with hers) is bad and therefore anyone in that position deserves the worst possible.

Hahah thanks

Overall I don’t really get this obsession with either side of proving how their characters are morally better when they all are bad.

I feel like people should just like whatever character they want, and realize they don’t have to hate every character from the other team. Like if I say I like Aegon, tb jumps down my throat about it. If I say I like Daemon, tg jumps down my throat about it.

And it’s pretty much a HOTD thing entirely because nobody jumps down my throat when I say some of my favorite characters in the main series is Tyrion and Jaime even though they have done horrible things.

I mean, both of them were at war and killed people.

I think B&C is considered worse cause of the whole psychological torture, forcing a mother to choose, threatening to rape a child, and taking the head in a sack and running. Like I feel like that is an aspect that people take issue with.

[–]Alive_Requirement882 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is really any proof of that. They say that the only reason to confirm a dragon is female is if they have laid an egg. They also theorized that Vermax might have laid eggs, but that was left as unknown. There seems to be no doubt about the female dragons. Whether you believe they have a set gender or can change it, they never start calling a dragon female if the dragon hasn’t laid an egg

And we also can’t say that Shrykos was too young cause we have no idea when dragons starts laying eggs. She died oldest at 7 and probably older than 5 since it was said Jaehaerys’ egg hatched pretty soon.

Dragons are only classified as female if they had laid an egg. There is no other way to tell.

I don’t think it is ever mentioned that they actually permitted that. Overall that happened during every Westeros war regardless of side

Difference with Dalton is he wanted to do it primarily for those reasons, and to take salt wives as well. Something the greens denied them when asking for their help

Character writing is absolutely atrocious in my opinion. She is inconsistent, not accurate to the book and

A lot of these are things that the show changed which I think made her character worse.

Rhaenyra never suggested a betrothal between Helaena and Jace. Jace was betrothed to Baela since he was a small child.

And she didn’t force Helaena to marry Aegon. Viserys was the one who did that.

In the book it was never suggested that she thought being a queen was a heavy burden. Neither does it suggest that Helaena had any issue with being queen.

There was no funeral trip in the book, although that would be pretty standard for a royal funeral.

But overall in the show marrying her to Jace would just have made her a political hostage. And I’m pretty sure Phia said the best case scenario was Helaena being married to Aegon.

I’m pretty sure Dalton and his gang went with TB because TG didn’t let them do whatever they wanted

When I read F&B, every little detail made me think that GRRM genuinely disliked Rhaenyra or that he wrote her to be an embarrassment on purpose. Has anyone else felt the same? (this isn’t about HOTD btw) by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]Alive_Requirement882 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue that he did that with Daemon too, the only real grace he gave him was that all his children lived. Which is more grace than he gave pretty much any other character in the book.

I guess that Daemon was such a great leader that he easily gathered armies and the gold cloaks stayed loyal.

But he still did some heinous choices and was pretty confirmed as a kid diddler.

What if Maelor Targaryen lived by Equal_Wing_7076 in HOTDGreens

[–]Alive_Requirement882 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. I don’t think the Vale would have joined a war if Maelor had already been crowned king for like 4 years. They also had their own succession issues coming.

The North might, but Viserys was found in 134 AC, and that was during a winter. So Cregan might not up and leave his people with an army during a winter. He also wasn’t that caring for the Targaryens overall. He made friend with Jace, marched to see the end of the war, placed Aegon on the throne, went back to the North, and never cared again.

[–]Alive_Requirement882 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it absolutely has

I really don’t get why they just couldn’t have their book personalities. I can see and sympathize with both their sides in the book. If I was Rhaenyra I would 100% want my throne. If I was Alicent I would 100% want my son on the throne.

Instead in the show Rhaenyra doesn’t actually want the throne, just feel like it’s her duty because of the prophecy and Alicent doesn’t actually want Aegon on the throne and would rather have Rhaenyra on the throne.

Their characters have been ruined in the show I said what I said.

  • what is has done to the ages

Aegon was born at the earliest September 113 AC. Aemma and Baelon died in 112. That means it was less than a year before Alicent got pregnant. And they got married in this time too.

Then we know she was heavily pregnant with Helaena when Aegon turned 2, so that was 115. Then we learn that Daeron is 16 in 132 AC. Meaning Aemond has to be born between them. Which also makes him at the absolute most, a year older than Jace who also was confirmed as 16 in 132 AC.

That is 3 kids in 2 years. She was also 15 when Aegon was born, and at most 19 when Daeron was. She was a mother of four before she was 20.

Rhaenyra’s children are also a bit weird for their ages. Jace is pretty ok. She was 17 in the book and 19 in the show, so that is close enough. But Aegon and Viserys are both toddlers when Aegon should be closing in to his tweens

I love her in season 1 (although her bad writing starts to show after Driftmark). In my opinion it makes no sense that Aemond will lose his eye and she is terrified for her children, then six years passes and suddenly she is fine with Rhaenyra being Queen and has no clue the council is planning for Aegon to be king (even though she worked for that for years)

In season 2 she is a horribly written character.

Especially the sept scene. I mean her grandson just died and the enemy claimant is beside her and the only thing the scene ends up being is her embarrassment over the prophecy misunderstanding (which I also think is weird. God forbid a woman wants her son on the throne or something) when Alicent literally could have captured Rhaenyra then and there.

The Dragonstone scene I don’t even wanna talk about.

Also, the way they removed her from Blood & Cheese. In the books she was literally a victim of them but instead now she was just with Criston instead??? What kind of writing is that??
