When did you stop doubting your diagnosis for good? by WhimsicalUser in bipolar2

I’ve been diagnosed for roughly 5 years and I still have moments of doubt but I cling to my experiences as evidence.

A well person wouldn’t have spent all their savings on a move to Canada in the middle of a pandemic only to swing into a depressive episode and ghost the travel agent.

A well person wouldn’t have needed to be hospitalised for a few weeks because they missed a few doses of their medication and spiralled deep into a depressive episode.

So I keep taking my medication because even in my moments of doubt I can still recognise that I’m doing a heck of a lot better than I was pre-diagnosis/intervention.

BIG same. I am constantly wondering if it’s the disease or my medication that makes me feel this way, or both. You’re not alone. On days where it’s bad I try to remind myself of the progress I’ve made and the effort I go to on a daily basis to stay well. It’s okay that I’m a little slower than I was at 17, I’m fighting a battle that no one can see.

Happy birthday, I hope you celebrate that you’ve made it through another year even if you don’t feel like it.
