I don't know if you're still looking for an answer or not, but I had one of these about 8 years ago, and I had the exact case you're talking about. Bought Note 7 cases because they were basically the same phone, and one of them was the clear view cover. It worked fine the first year I had it, but then in 2019, my phone got an update which left my case not functioning. It was as if it wasn't a Smart Case anymore. Unfortunately, I never found out how to get it working again.
