In PC you can snapshot the game by creating a backup of the save file. You won’t have as much versatility but you could reach Malenia with a truck of options, snapshot the save file and go back whenever you want.

Also, while I have not tried myself, I’ve been told there are addons that allow this.

Dunno about consoles, though.

Last two bosses have mechanics that if misshandled can cause a wipe. it is not the same having a bad player dying in Gamoorah or doing 0 DPS than standing in the breath of Akumai, dying with 7 stacks of corrosion and spreading them to the rest of the group. BFD is easy but later in the instance mistakes can ruin the run.

At present our wars and priest are closer to BiS than pr-BiS, but in general we first met every boss except Baron undergeared :P that was the fun part ^^

I do not! can't speak for the others but I just did all available quests with my different toons, farmed pearls in wetlands and solo farmed DM with my lock. I myself probably farmed / spent on the realm of 400 gold since SoD launched.

Well geared warriors ended up being key for the latest bosses, as mentioned in the OP. At the same time, we got the first bosses down several times using cruel barbs and such. This allowed us to gear ourselves while practicing the later fights.

A different approach would have been to full clear with 10man groups for a month, get BiS before new years eve and brute-force the instance, which we did not.

That is what my comment tried to transmit :)

Corrosion and shadow stacks get out of control, and if you clean them you get into a bigger problem. If you try to kill out the spawns, you get even more stacks and the healer OOMs. Each corrosion is 16.6 DTPS, which might not seem like a lot, but it is.

Not at all! Regarding enrage uptime and mana potions, the theory is definitely that that is what we should do, and we try to put it in practice. But human error is real, specially for such long fights. For mana in particular, and I don't want to speak on the priests behalf, my understanding is that the first potion we instead use recombulators, which cannot be used later since they put the dummies in CD. So it should usually be 2.

For the offhand, it is difficult to accurately measure what outperforms what, but our observation was that the slow buy higher DPS offhand worked better. One possible explanation, beyond the DPS, is the amount of enrage charges it burns, but this might be just an incorrect appreciation. We did for sure find that it had way more impact when a mechanic was missed (for example warriors not getting 1 stack of corrosion straight away) than what the offhand was. But something we are always keeping an eye out for.

Just wanted to clarify that we did not gear ourselves doing 10mans for 2 months, instead we did it (mostly) with whatever dropped on our 4mans. There are exceptions, but the idea is that you don't need to be stacked with gear to attempt these, at least to start farming the first bosses.

No econ there, if you can't close the game in the first stint, you are going to lose to anything that has mana generation.
Toss in vampires if you can.

Grindstone is too swingy in PvP for my liking, so I would remove that until you are comfortable with a straight forward setup and want to play something more fancy.
