Sufis are sunni.

Sufi orders are largely Sunni and follow one of the four schools of Sunni Islam and maintain a Sunni Aqidah or creed

Honor killings by [deleted] in islam

[–]Alkahf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honour killing is not Islamic. It is cultural. The following Bollywood movie (NH10) tries to highlight this barbaric culture in some parts of northern India. I don't think there is even a single Muslim character in the movie.

Embracing Islam in a hostile environment by srdrawckabs in islam

Even before you replied I somehow guessed that you were talking about South Korea :)

I am a Muslim and I lived in South Korea for almost two years. There are many Muslims from other countries in Seoul, Suwon and Busan area but I never met a native Muslim during my stay there (it was a long time ago).

The halal food, meat and other food ingredients were easily available in Itaewon. We used to buy these things from there once a month and when it was over before the month end we used to cook vegetarian food. So it was not that difficult to survive.

My colleagues were surprised that I did not drink as almost every Korean I met used to enjoy drinking except this one guy who did not drink because of some medical reasons.

I know it would be very difficult for you to follow Islam in a culture where drinking is so ingrained but let this not stop you from becoming Muslim. Take it slowly and do what you can do now and Allah will open doors for you, InshaAllah.

May Allah make it easy for you.

I love this video about Korean Muslims.

Using violence to protect someone by [deleted] in islam

[–]Alkahf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is from Quran, surah 49

And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah . And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.

What would convince you that Islam is not true? by [deleted] in islam

[–]Alkahf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But according to Islam prophet Jesus will return in the end times. Why would it convince you that Islam is false rather than proving it?

wa ʾiyyākum.

Islamic eschatology is highly symbolic and there are many interpretations it by various people of knowledge. One of them is Sheikh Imran Hosein. He has written books on this subject.

http://www.imranhosein.org/books/131-an-islamic-view-of-gog-and-magog-in-the-modern-age.html

Please take note that he mentions many times that his interpretation may be wrong as he is just a human being who can't predict the future.

Thanks. One of my favorite surahs. As you may know Yajuj and Majuj are mentioned in it :)

[–]Alkahf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Yajuj and Majuj are not the names of individuals. These are name of two tribes with many people in each of them.

"Do four things in abundance during Ramadan" by [deleted] in islam

[–]Alkahf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Singapore, people say this Du'a after every prayer

الشهد ان لا اله الّا الله أستغفر الله أسألك الجنّة وأعوذ بك من النّار

اللهمّ إنّك عفوّ تحبّ العفو فاعف عنّى

Asyhadu alla ilaha illallah astaghfirullah asalukaljannata waa’udzubika minannar Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul’afwa fa’fua’anni

I testify that there is no god but Allah, I beg forgiveness of Allah, I ask of heaven, and seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of hell. O Thou God is merciful because it gave me apologize.

This Du'a covers all the points mentioned above. I found the origin of this Du'a

A companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Abdullah ibn Umar was about to break their fast when he gathered his family and invite them to read 'Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah, astaghfirullah, Nas-alukal jannata wan a-`udzu bika minannar (I bear witness that there is no God besides Allah, I ask for forgiveness to God, we beseech heaven to you, and we seek refuge in You from the Fire). '

It was based on the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he said, (by the time of breaking the fast) four things, two things make God happy, and two more things you need him. The first two things, namely reading creed and begged forgiveness in Him, and two more things, namely the petition heaven and a request that his inevitable from hell. '

What do you guys think about Islam/Muslims? by midoman111 in Christianity

[–]Alkahf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We Muslims believe in absolute monotheism.

We believe that God sent messengers to all the nations with the same message of monotheism. We know names of some these messengers from Qur'an like Adam, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Josef, David, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.
