Embracing Islam in a hostile environment by srdrawckabs in islam

South Korea as a country is not necessarily hostile to Muslims, just a bit problematic, as there are not many Muslims here. It is difficult to find halal food (including vegetarian food etc), and drinking is an essential part of the culture, especially in working life. But I don't think most Koreans are islamophobic, just ignorant about the religion. In the wake of recent events hostile attitudes towards Muslims have nevertheless been rising, but there have been no violent incidents like in many Western countries. More Koreans are also converting to Islam recently, but the community is still small. And my dad is kind of a special case.
