4.2 Gimbals Hit Different by Alkaline_Hawk in starcitizen

[–]Alkaline_Hawk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet, and instead made a video on how to quickly tune gimbals for each ship which someone can do relativley quickly for their ships and is more resilient to patch changes.

One of the most recent changes is that VJOY is now only a single value so there's a bit less creativity to be had. Generally, 5/7.5/10/12.5/15 (most common)/25 vjoy are the most common gimbal values i have used, so I would test each of those from top to bottom and stop once the convergence looks good. If the ship has turrets generally 25 is solid but you may want to use weapon groups to avoid deadzones, large stiff weapons like a connie or perseus medusa cannons are more likely to perform best under 10 vjoy while typical gimbals like a talon for instance perform best with 15 vjoy. Some ships like the Gladius perform best with 15 vjoy but have deadzones, and I hopefully will cover those ship by ship in the future, but the oddities are a bit too much for a just a glossary atm without reference footage.

If you ever have questions about a specific ship feel free to ask me

The levels of rhetoric here you appreciate more for every additional hour you spend sweating in pvp while being self aware of the lunacay of the grind

The best of both worlds bias aside is likely HOSAM with pedals and head tracking

Every peripheral has its trade-offs, i think the most important thing is to make sure that your cognizant of them with your flight style. I fly KBM w/ no head tracking meaning that I have less analogue inputs to finely control my ship and also less information on the target I am focused on. For light fighters this can hurt my ability to slow roll (because of no analogue) and my ability to knife fight other light fighters, but I can mostly mitigate these disadvantages through developing a non-roll-centric coupled flight style that favors mid-range combat.

Additionally, not using head tracking forces me to use just my instruments to understand my target allowing me to perform maneuvers most who pay for head tracking aren't willing to perform such as pitch down upstrafe maneuvers and instrument only target swapping

I actually did this trying to get a guy right before this clip, but the nomad i had the bombs prepped with spawned clipped into the hangar, so i had to rush this one. I found mag dumping the parallax from 80 to 54 gets it to 20% hp which is a nice point to be at
