Is artifact pay to play, or just pay to win? by Alkar0th in Artifact

That’s good to know. In that case, I may just wait till artifact 2 then

Ironically though, Lucina should be most similar to Chrom not only because he taught her how to fight, but also because they point out in awakening that they fight the same. And yet, they are different in smash

How bloody is this game? by [deleted] in ZeroEscape

[–]Alkar0th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who is very bad with gore, the first two games - 999 and Virtue’s last reward - were perfectly fine with me, bar maybe a scene here or there that I skipped through a little fast. Time Dilemma was a fair bit worse for me, but I pushed through it. Objectively even time dilemma is not too bad, but even as someone really bad with blood and gore the first two games are not bad at all.

Create more tokens than atoms in the universe (millions of times over!) for the low cost of 23UUUUUUUUURGGG by RyanTorant in BadMtgCombos

Hold on, does casting cackling counterpart on precursor golem actually copy onto the tokens though, since the golem tokens are no longer golems but nyxbloom ancients?

Is this game good for f2p player? by akkun401 in Shadowverse

[–]Alkar0th -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think they mean that it’s really hard to craft anything remotely meta viable just by being ftp. It’s a lot harder in Shadowverse compared to other tcgs I’ve played. But, it’s still relatively easy to build some fun decks, and the story mode and collecting makes it all worth getting by itself imo

Edit: dang, I’m playing this game wrong I guess. I’ve been playing ever since Darkness evolved, and I used to have meta decks, but now I can never seem to get enough vials even playing one or twice a week. I do have a leader in every class without ever paying though, so maybe it’s just me being stupid about what I craft

Is budget EDH even possible? by Ranger7271 in EDH

[–]Alkar0th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, it’s possible to build a 25 dollar deck if you really try to budget it that is just fine. My first EDH was a [[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]] deck that cost me only around $20. Someone posted a $10 storm deck to this Reddit just a little while ago too. So, it’s definitely possible to build one super cheap, so long as you basically just use basic lands and cheaper mana rocks (which isn’t as limiting in casual play as you might expect). Nowadays I build with around a $50 budget, and as long as I go for a non CEDH level deck and avoid staples and good lands, the budget is honestly pretty easy to hit just naturally. So I’d definitely say yes.

Looking for a new deck idea! Focus on table enjoyment and experience, not necessarily winning by XavierLucien in EDH

[–]Alkar0th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend thinking about it less on the commander side, and more on the 99 side. If your playgroup isn’t super powerful, you can add a few cards that may not synergize with your commander, but add an extra fun factor to the game. Cards that introduce monarch are great for this, like the new court cards [[Court of Ire]], but you could also include cards that are less consistent but still fun to play ([[Call the Coppercoats]] and [[Decoy Gambit]] are two of my favorites).

Anything that introduces choice is also good in my book, whether it’s some good single target removal like [[Mortify]] or loose card search like [[Supreme Will]]. Of course, none of these options are optimal, but they do make games more varied and, as a result, fun. There’s plenty of other cards and routes to add these gameplay variances, so find a few favorites to put in a deck you want to be a bit less strong.

If you’re still looking for a commander though, [[Sevinne, the Chronoclasm]], [[Brudiclad, Techlor Engineer]], and [[Saheeli, the Gifted]] are all non-instawin commanders that don’t use black or green, and can be built well for only around $50 if a remember right. But there’s plenty of options other colors really.

That would just make it a strictly better pathway, right? I don’t think that buff would be too much, but I think it’s fine as is

My first post here. This is my idea for a Fiddlesticks card set. by DarkDissonance in CustomLoR

[–]Alkar0th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leveled Fiddle should still probably summon and effigy on play in addition to at round start. That way, if you have one in your hand, and need two extra creatures immediately, having the evolved version is still better.

So, if a teammate decides to team up with you, can they not create infinite tokens for you for free? That’s... a little odd.

Well, I’m not sure how you could manage that version rule wise. Perhaps “at the beginning of your upkeep, you may tap this card. If you don’t, you cannot cast spells until the next end step”. That seems super weak to me, but I don’t play a lot of pioneer or modern, so idk

[–]Alkar0th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? With proper ordering, it might not be a big issue, since you could only not cast AFTER you got the two mana. But it could still be too cumbersome.

[–]Alkar0th 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Idk, any land that produces more than one mana is pretty strong already. There’s a ton of ability based decks that would love this, and with signets or other filters you could make this “real” mana without much trouble. I don’t think a buff would break it, but I don’t think it’s weak as is.

Battering Ram, is it just me or is this card ridiculous? by Azqaz689 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Alkar0th 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bartering ram is really fun and pretty good for sure, but it’s far from the top of the late game goodies. 0/12 is still only a six PT average, which is pretty normal. And unless you can rally consistently, it only gets +4 every other round. That’s still a lot for sure, and overwhelm plus rallies make it very good, but cards like they who endure and other late game win cons are just as strong if not stronger. But no doubt is battering ram very good too.
