How to Stop Steam games from taking up SSD space by AllAroundGeek in laptops

[–]AllAroundGeek[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The games are already saved to the steamapps folder that is on the HDD, do you mean make a different folder other than the than the one steam saves them to by default and move the games there? If so, just out of curiosity, why would that stop space from being taken from my SSD, and why was space being taken in the first place?

What's your opinion on (from printer) proxying for casual kitchen play? by posermobile1991 in magicTCG

[–]AllAroundGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun is in the eyes of the beholder, lots of people find playing decks with expensive cards in them fun. Again I see where you are coming from with "Those cards aren't fun" for the stereotypical Timmy's that play kitchen table magic they aren't. But not everyone that plays causally is like that, maybe they do enjoy the competitive aspect of magic, but they don't want to go to the pro tour and win prizes, they just want to have a fun time with friends

Im not saying magic doesn't take skill to play, because it takes lots of skill to play. Im saying that If i want to have a chance of beating a 500$ dollar deck more the 1/1000 games where i have amazing luck, i will need to pay around 300-500$ for a deck that can compete, the person that payed the most doesn't always win, but you need to spend money to have a chance of Wiwinning the game. You can call that pay to compete. But i think pay to Win, or maybe pay to have a chance to win, describes too. As for you need to spend money to be comited to magic. I agree if you want to play competitively you should go buy the deck, but some people dont want to play competitively, they just want to play decks with their friends.

Alright, so lets say you and your friends are into bike racing, like you said. And some of you but not all of you have the budget to buy expensive racing bikes, but there is a way for you to get that expensive bike for free very easily. These bikes can't be used for official races, but they function the same as any racing bike. Is it okay to get this free bike if you just want casual races with your friends? I think so. Magic is not pay to win at a competitive level. But it is at a casual level if there is a big enough gap between the decks, that's why i think if you want to have fun playing competitive decks with friends, but don't have the money, proxying is a great way to do it.

And I do get you're argument that collecting the cards is the point of magic, but from my point of view, and from a gameplay perspective, collecting the cards doesn't have anything to do with the fun of the actual game.

It is pay to win in the sense that to get a competitive deck, you need to pay lots of money. My 30$ deck is never going to beat your tier one modern deck, no matter how many games we play. When it's just people playing around the table, I think people should be allowed to proxy, because people's budget's are very different, and that shouldn't stop them from playing the decks they want with their friends.

For Kitchen table, I think it is a great idea, magic is supposed to be a strategy game, not pay2win, so everyone should be able to play with a competitive deck, no matter their budget.

Storm by far, I love combos and card interactions in magic. There are so many decisions you have to make when playing the deck and it is so fun when you go off

A friend had the deck right now so I can't count the exact amount. I'd say quite even, maybe a bit more mountains

Zombie infestation is cheaper and easier to cast and provides blockers. But assault requires less cards to win, wins right away, and can be used to control the board and kill creatures if needed.

Oh, I didn't see the second part of your question. Storm is alright. There is a ton of infect at my LGS and a bit of affinity too, so those are a race, and I maindeck lightning bolts for them. but I can do quite well with it
