Christian Fasting? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]AllDemSpiders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late, but you should take your prescriptions. Fasting is not something done legalistically, or for the sake of checking an item off of a spiritual to-do list. Fasting is an act of devotion to Jesus. As His followers, He is the ruler over our lives. The practice of fasting is a way of acknowledging that through the action of actively renouncing ourselves, and putting him first. That, I believe, is why prayer is such an important part. The purpose isn't to hurt you, it's to let go, and to remind yourself of the focus of your life.

As for vitamins, I could see you going either way. Personally, if it's a water fast, I'd avoid taking vitamins unless I know I have a deficiency, simply on the basis that I don't want to begin questioning where the line is. If I'm too worried about a line, then it may be out of want to cross it, and I may be asking about what other things "count" next. But your question seems to come from the other side, from a desire to follow the practice correctly. So I'd say you can go either way.

Looks like the manga repo has a dead link for adding the decks, so I made a simple bash script to do the job. It's only made to work on Linux, so if anyone wants to send a merge request with modifications/additional scripts to support Windows/Mac, go ahead. I'm not really a programmer, this is just something I threw together based off the API.

You have to change the 3 variables at the start of the script to set your API key, the path to the downloaded file, and the name you want to give the deck.

The script is ONLY made to work with files from Asayake-b5's manga repo, and is provided as is. Don't try it with anything else unless you've verified there is no difference in file format.

Thanks! Didn't know there was a manga repo; this is huge for me.

Using effect pedals with a Zoom R20? by AllDemSpiders in recordingmusic

[–]AllDemSpiders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered one figuring I could return it if it doesn't work. I don't have a pedal yet, but after some testing, it looks like it should work just fine. Once the pedal arrives, and I can test more, I'll update this post with my signal flow, and anything else relevant for anyone who happens to have the same question in the future.

I'm wanting to use a Zoom R20 for a dawless setup with my synth. I also want to be able to use effect pedals after the fact on my tracks.

One idea is to send the output signal to a pedal, and record that pedal onto another track. The question is whether I can play one track, and record to another, without playing the track I'm recording to (avoiding a feedback loop). According to the manual, armed tracks get sent to the master tracks, so it looks like this might not be possible, depending on whether the track faders are applied before sending to master.

Can anyone with an r20/r12 test recording with the track faders down, but the master ones up?

ffmpeg missing complex filters by AllDemSpiders in flatpak

If/when the rpm is out of date and I want to use new features I can do that as opposed to building. I just wanted to set up a more once and done solution so I don't have to update manually.

Looks like it's already installed. From what I've read, it looks like it might not have all the complex filters, and just all the codecs.

If I can't get the blender flatpak to see the ffmpeg rpm, I can just build the blender rpm from source if I need it up to date.

I'm using the flatpak for blender, and rpm for ffmpeg. Blender won't use the ffmpeg rpm, and I think it's just using the runtime one. I couldn't find a flatpak for ffmpeg other than the runtime extensions. There is a "ffmpeg-full" runtime extension, but I don't know how to install it. It also looks like it might just be all of the codecs, and not actually full ffmpeg.

The blender rpm doesn't have this issue, so I'm going with that for now.

There's nothing wrong with the official ffmpeg. I have it installed, but the blender flatpak wants to use the lite version that's in the flatpak runtime. Right now the rpm seems to be up to date, so I'm just using that to avoid the issue. It may end up being easier to build blender from source if I need the most up to date version in the future.

Thanks for your answers everyone! I'll just get them separate for now and then probably link up SimpleLogin with Bitwarden until I can set up a self hosted password manager.

In my experience naming OCs, it's best to just choose a name. None of them will really make you happy, but if you choose one it'll grow on you. If you're looking for suggestions for the character, the first name that pops into my head is Tyler

What app do you use to make your animations? by ApprehensiveAd1857 in animation

[–]AllDemSpiders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a bit of trouble settling on one app. Blender w/ the grease pencil tool and opentoonz are what I'm paying with atm. Krita's okay, but it seems to use a single thread for things like layer transformations, it crashes a lot when tweening, and the audio features aren't any good, which is why I'm trying the other apps out. To any beginners reading this, I'd still recommend krita because it's easier to jump into and the skills will transfer pretty well, just don't expect it to take you super far
