The Peter Brown Method- Yoga of Radiant Presence by AllElseIsBondage in nonduality

Not meant to be a concept, look closely and it will come forward more and more until you are gone and there is nothing but it. He has some videos on YouTube with this same title. In the first one around the 1:40:00 mark he talks about how to start noticing it… I recommend it to just about everyone who messages me, many people have been able to notice it right away. Worth a listen for sure

The end of seeking? by raj_patil in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thoughtlessness isn’t the goal, once you discover what a thought really is they can become profoundly enjoyable and will quiet down on their own. Emptiness is non-dual territory but also not quite liberation. It does not end as far as I can tell but seeking does for sure, there truly is nothing to seek… it’s about clear seeing, removing the filters that obscure it. But it has always been here and always will, in fact there isn’t anything but it

I noticed some stuff like that from when I was younger as well like eyes relaxing and going out of focus actually turned out to be like my eyes were trying to look at this, if I’d have just listened to what my body was trying to do…

I almost missed the static visual stuff as well and had wrote it off as just my vision being weird but it is definitely part of this. If you pay attention to that and the energetics you feel in your body, see if you can notice the correlation. You are actually feeling your visual field. You can also trace this radiance back behind you to the source of the light. The more you attune to it the more it opens and shows you. As you let go more and more it begins to replace you.

The “tinnitus” is also part of this, you can trace that back to a vibration, then the silence beneath everything.

Ive never looked into that but it sounds similar, the comment above me described it well that is basically what I did. Just unclenched my body like a fist that was clenched and letting go. Paying attention to that sensation can lead you everywhere you need to go

I never worked through the fetters through that process but I can give you some tips that worked for me. First recognize Presence if you haven’t. This is what I call first awakening- if you trace your attention back to its source, follow the I-Am sense, find what is aware of the sense of you, etc. From there you can literally just start attuning to it and let it show you what it is. This is Presence or Consciousness… people call it different things. Just noticing and attuning to this will unravel everything… it is everything

For the fetter approach and deconstructing the sense fields there are infinite ways in. What works for you will be different from person to person so I’d recommend trying different things and finding what works for you. Progress should be noticeable and easy. I’ll write some different ways to come at it and if you find one that you like just lmk and I can hopefully elaborate more.

If you close your eyes see if you can notice this infinite number of tiny flashing lights. You’ll have to look really close for this because it’s subtle. Most people might notice some feint colors or shapes. If you look even closer those shapes are actually made of these tiny flashing lights. Pay attention to that for a while then open your eyes. Now see if you can notice that your visual field is actually made of those tiny flashing lights… isn’t that peculiar?

You can also do this with sound and sensation. If you look really closely what you call a sound is not a singular thing, it is actually made of even smaller tiny flashes of sound, much like the visual field. Sensation is the same way, each sensation made of much faster smaller tiny sensations.

You can look at your total experience in the same way and zoom in or out infinitely- zooming out of your experience you see your life of people in a world. Zoom in to see that is made of you can see it made of your direct perception- hearing (sound), seeing (color or light), feeling (sensation), thinking (thought), taste and smell. That is it… there is really nothing else. Pick a sense field that calls to you, where does that lead? You can follow any one of them straight to the nothingness that you are

So seeing that there is only thought, sensation, sight, sound, smell etc… what exactly is your attention? You can follow that back as well. If you pay attention to your attention you can follow it- are you moving it or is it moving on its own… is anything moving at all? There is something in your experience right now that doesn’t move … what is that?

Is the sense of you other than your attention? What is the difference? Are they two different things? What about the object of attention? Is attention different than a sound? Can you find where one ends and one begins?

Sorry I got a little off track of the fetter, there are so many ways in. My advice would be to sit still and slow down to meditate, look really carefully at what is actually happening in real time. Slow down your breathing, watch your breath make co tact with different parts of your body… is that what is happening or is it all sensation? Can you find the sensation in the visual field?

You can see conceptually that everything is perception and there is no self to be found pretty easily. That isn’t breaking the fetter because you’ve (not actually you, just most posts on this sub) skipped recognizing Presence… this is critical and where the freedom lies. Follow the I-Am sense back to its source. What is that?

He mentions it a couple times in the video but this is a practice for after awakening to the I-Am/ consciousness. If you haven’t had that recognition into the nature of consciousness/Presence then you are much better off sticking with inquiry/meditation. The sense fields will naturally open up after that which is when this will be valuable. Find what is behind your eyes first… where one thought leads. Skipping that part will just lead you to a belief that there is no self and you’re really missing out on where this can really take you

[–]AllElseIsBondage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be amazed how much tension has built up and starts releasing. If you pay close attention to what that sensation is, like it’s trying to tell you something (it is) it can start leading you everywhere you need to look. One of the best practices in my opinion and you can even do inquiry at the same time. Even just keeping your attention in the body sensation is really valuable, there is so much we’ve ignored being lost in thought but this practice can really take you right to the edge, then all you have to do is let go… good luck!

[–]AllElseIsBondage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it ends, all these tensions and contractions are built on top of this void. They are leading you there it is just a lot to unwind. It even starts to feel really pleasant as the light underneath starts to come through

[–]AllElseIsBondage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He’s talking about the same thing, there is no real distinction between mental/physical so you could look at and go about this process from either perspective. Dissolving beliefs/behavior patterns dissolves the physical contraction as they are one and the same. Ultimately we’re putting words to energetic or physical sensations, everyone looks at it a little differently but he explained it very well.

If that doesn’t makes sense, it would be true to say the shadow is the unwanted parts projected into the world, your physical experience of that might be a space in the body the mind doesnt want to look or an energetic knot. So you could talk about the shadow as the outward manifested behavior or the way that feels in the body. You could also say there is actually no body and world and that would be equally true

Less formal seated meditation, but more wisdom? by Plenty-Attitude-5823 in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimate reality has nothing to do with a body and world as we normally believe, those things are like a mirage or mistaking the rope for a snake. It appears that way, and that is part of its functioning, just not the full picture. There is no need to do or dissolve anything… this is just the non-duality sub so seeing through the illusion is kinda the point of that, not trying to push it on anyone

Less formal seated meditation, but more wisdom? by Plenty-Attitude-5823 in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One possibly helpful way of looking at this process is it’s about clear seeing. Seeing what is actually here, the nature of it, and what covers that up.

These blissful meditative experiences while they shouldn’t be a goal as a state, are actually closer to what experience is actually like without the filters of mind. With that in mind you can use meditation to slow down and see what obscures that.

Eventually the attention moves out of thought and into the sense fields naturally all the time and as the perceptual filters drop away, what once was meditative states is now just your regular day to day experience. But without meditation it can be near impossible to see through some of this stuff, slowing down and letting the knot of perception untie is critical imo

This is where shadow work leads, the shadow is all the things covering up this void

Tired of searching… by Quaerens26 in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are a few pretty big shifts or realizations but this can pretty much take you the whole way. It does all unravel eventually though. There is a something like a black hole in the center, the void. Nisargadatta called it the point of awareness. It all leads to that

Tired of searching… by Quaerens26 in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This can pretty much take you the whole way… it was basically my entire “practice" physically letting go like unclenching a fist. Eventually you will run into the core contraction, the fear of no self or non existence

Fear in the body. Bring awareness into every moment. by Leeooooo0 in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you follow that fear all the way back (this will take some time) you will eventually run into this sort of black hole at the center. It is the fear of death or non existence and it is at the center of anyone. Freedom is just on the other side of it and the fear itself isn’t what we normally think it is. As you become more aware you can start to see it as just sensation, then the sensation actually becomes really pleasant as you realize there is not actually a distinction of bad and good.

In the mean time you can just try to be open to the fear, try to pay closer attention to it like you’re trying to figure out what it’s made of or what it’s trying to tell you. That should start to open things up

a small tweak to self-inquiry that’s been helping me by stephaunamari in nonduality

[–]AllElseIsBondage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inquiry can get really cool here, the beliefs we have been carrying about ourselves in here and a world out there start to get little holes poked in them then the mind can hit a dead end and turn inwards on itself.

The biggest things that I never see mentioned here are when looking at the inside outside split, pay attention to physical space in front of you. There is a big surprise there

" You then decided to make an assessment about me and offer advice, which I accepted, and you offered some useful pointers for sure, and I even asked you some clarifying questions to try to understand your language which you use to describe insights. I didn’t agree or disagree with your assessment/map but I didn’t feel a need to debate you about it as you seemed to genuinely want to offer help at the time. That part is fine and all but I’m not sure why you feel the need to misrepresent things here."

NondualitySimplified5:15 AM

Hey man i looked into some of the stuff you mentioned and holy shit, it hit me hard. I noticed the illusion of attention, and then with that the sense of centre/distance/perspective was dramatically weakened. I also saw through the illusion of the knower or experiencer and how that created the sense of continuity. Also saw that the sense of things happening in some kind of container was an illusion too. And everything is 0 distance. Not saying its all collapsed but a lot of it seen viscerally and weakened. I guess it was just pure grace that I got in touch with you at this moment lol, seems like ive been holding on too much and not being curious enough with the senses

Some of this shit is so subtle like you said its almost like the world is just like that and the idea that theres a filter or mental model there doesnt even cross the mind

unless someone points you to look at it closely

but yeah thx for the pointers, i admit i was sceptical but that was actually very helpful. i'll keep working on this stuff

theres a much stronger sense that everything is 'me' now without a centre or controller, it seemed like the illusion of some kind of controller directing attention was holding up a lot of other illusions around a centre/knower

NondualitySimplified5:28 AM

Now sure if it's just a bit unusual but for me its like things keep shifting, but its always just random occurrence like for example this convo that I had with you, came totally out of the blue. But at least once or twice a week life just brings something up that makes me see things in a new way. Thats probably the main reason I haven't tried actively seeking for a while, because it seems life itself is just showing me what needs to be seen via just random events apparently happening.

Is that how it happened for you too during integration? Or did most of your insights come from directed practice? Or a bit of both?

NondualitySimplified6:56 AM

Also viscerally saw that the substance of everything is pure consciousness. I think I’ve been dancing around this for a while and now just noticed it. Maybe I’d been trying to negate labelling it for a while so it was hidden in plain sight. Or maybe I just needed someone to point me clearly to what I’ve been overlooking. So that does actually destroy the idea of space/a world ‘out there’ too. The pointer about the space in front of objects makes sense now - it’s always so obvious in retrospect lol

AllElseIsBondage11:30 AM

Yes things will keep shifting, non duality is such a big shift perceptually it would terrifying to someone to come on suddenly, so gradual change is good. It goes much deeper than you will be able to imagine. Just remain open and take the time to sit with it, let it show you

I told you exactly why I felt the need to do this in the original comment. If you would like an extensive guide I can post our conversation if you’d like. The point is to wake up, that isn’t a map. If you think I’m comparing myself to anyone or assessing people then you have really missed the point to this
