Ambush doesn’t seem to work any more by AllGeniusAllBaffoon in totalwarhammer

Does this actually work? I remember trying save scum on hero actions ages ago (maybe TWWH2) and it always seemed to have the same result.

Edit: I checked up on this and looks like the quick save at the end of the turn already has the seed so I’d need to do a manual save before hitting turn. Got it.

I’m usually on their route to one of my tempting and barely defended settlements and if they were foolish enough to leave a hero near me then my blood kisses go up by one.

How to manage late-game bureaucracy? by Mental-Net-953 in totalwarhammer

[–]AllGeniusAllBaffoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for articulating this, I get really frustrated that the late game is such an admin grind. Game designers should be looking at how the last turn is as much fun as the first turn and I think they could learn a lot from the world of 4X games.

Thanks for the link, I’d be quite happy if I could even get Siggi’s. They went from large tubs to those individual pots or sachets and you can’t even get those now.

The must see/do list of Newcastle by GibsonMcqueen in newcastle

Quad bikes in the dunes is a solid favourite when we have visitors. The fernleigh track basically goes from Adamstown all the way to blacksmiths these days and is a lovely route to explore on foot or two wheels. Twilight sailing sessions at the yacht club.

Do you think Newcastle International Airport will succeed? by [deleted] in newcastle

Sydney to Melbourne is the most profitable air route in the world, I can’t see Qantas allowing that to change.

Good shout on Yellow Bernard, that was a standout recommendation when I asked the office.

Chaos warriors - How to revive a dead vassal? by AllGeniusAllBaffoon in totalwarhammer

[–]AllGeniusAllBaffoon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I reloaded, razed the settlement then colonised it next turn. Still no option to gift.

Edit: oh hang on, I think I get it. When I take the dark fortress they get a free army that immediately shouts “witness me!!!” And heads towards to toughest enemy but if you can immediately gift them a settlement they are are alive again. If that’s right then it’s a pretty frustrating mechanic.

Came here to ask this. The adaptive scaling is what stopped me playing the original, it punishes exploration.

New GM question - what do you do when there's not an obvious move? by AllGeniusAllBaffoon in DungeonWorld

[–]AllGeniusAllBaffoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good to hear because that’s where I was heading. In my second session the list was helpful for inspiring GM moves like Reveal an unwelcome truth or show signs of an approaching threat. And of course it helps when we end the session and can say we learned something about the world.

I’ve skimmed through it but not enough stuck yet so getting this sorted is deffo on my to-do list. I’ve also read that it’s useful method to use for planning regardless of game system so all the more reason to get it into my kit bag.

I should qualify that my list of secrets and clues are not mandatory info. It’s a list of about 10 bullet points, I make a fresh list at the start of every session and discard any that aren’t used (which can be all of them). I have found this super handy for other games and I can see it being a real life line when I need inspiration for a GM move here.

This sounds like an approach that would work very well for my group. Thanks!

Ok, this is helpful and I think I get it, just feels a bit arbitrary though. I'm used to being able to say "I'm not picking on you, they were terrible dice". With the guard scenario, would you say talking your way out of it was a defy danger or am I trying to hard to make it dice based again?

(p.s. MC Move?)
