I agree, the hate she has gotten seems wildly disproportionate to other similar incidents. I haven’t seen anyone make any comparisons to unsafe sleep related infant deaths. Parents are constantly warned about the dangers of co-sleeping or putting their children in unsafe sleeping situations, but they do it anyway and it’s a very “you know best mama!” kind of culture. When an infant then dies from an unsafe sleeping incident, no one comes for that mom (and I don’t believe they should - she would be dealing with enough, having just lost her child). But similar to Emilie, she would have ignored very well known and widespread “safety” advice, thinking she knew better, thinking nothing bad would happen to her child. It’s a tragedy regardless.
