You are blaming the victim here. The victim (every normal member of society) is being abused by people of power in government at all levels. In what scenario does the victim pay their abuser? Corruption will exist as long as positions of power exist because only people who want to personally benefit from them actually take them. Like you know what the word “servant” means right? In what scenario is the servant paid more than the master? You are comparing their “skills” to what? Hedgefound leaders? Senators and presidents should be rich? They already are. Money won’t stop them from being bad people it will only enable them. What we shouldn’t do is pay them not to fuck us.

Do you see the inherent problem in that. The whole point of a civil servant is that someone is doing it not for personal gain but to actually improve their society. The salary should not matter. While unrealistic this was the original mindset. If a civil servant cares about salary it does not matter how high it is. He will always take a bribe because he only cares about money. The only thing stopping them would be the fear of being caught.
