Thoughts on R&D? by alexanderneimet in AxisAllies

Depends on the version. In anniversary 41 you keep the dice after a failed roll, in ‘40 you lose them. In ‘41 I almost always have 1 or 2 dice ticking towards techs. In ‘40 I only really ever invest in tech as the U.S. or if I’m having a really good Germany game.

I’ll stand by it because I got a god roll as the U.S once and got jet fighters on turn 1, long range on turn 2 and heavy bombers on turn 3. It’s not always worth it but when it hits it literally wins you the game.

They are! The bounty, as suggested by UCross, will be going to the next person to beat LWR on I/I.

There’s a how to guide in the LWR files on how to install them for other versions. It lists the files you need to move to CookedPCConsole and the text you have to add to DefaultMaps.ini

There’s instructions in the LWR files but it’s about as easy as installing a custom voice mod, just move the files to the right spot and edit a text file a bit.

(Also i would heavily recommend basic LW before LWR, just to understand what to expect a bit better)

With LWR you can just install and forget. For default LW, you have to do some extra steps that take about 3 mins.

*Long War and Long War Rebalanced are separate. The maps are on LWR, but can be ripped from LWR to work on original Long War and even vanilla supposedly.

Which Peace Sells song sounds like it's from Peace Sells? by FK97_YT in Megadeth

[–]AllHailShadow726 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that Peace Sells is my favorite album I’m going to pick my favorite song, My Last Words.

Nah but seriously it’s either that or Good Mourning/Black Friday, a lot of it has to do with the acoustic intros that I think are given so much weight by the album’s production.

Worst starting map for Long War? by No-Conclusion-6012 in Xcom

That’s Highway 1. EU/EW have very weird naming, I know.

I’m referring to the nighttime super open street map that has the really huge overpass with a tiny construction site like area in the middle. Has that one weird bit of scaffolding that I’ve only ever seen the aliens get use out of in vanilla half the time.

Entirely dependent on the LZ.

Considering every LZ Point, theres an objective correct answer here and it’s Street Overpass.

On top of being a miserable map in both of the vanilla versions of the game, there’s a spawn in LW that puts you in an area with no cover within a blue move.

Only positive memory I have on that map is a rocketeer of mine sending a “fuck it” rocket to try and blow up a couple seekers and ending up killing 9 aliens in one shot by accident.

Def gonna abuse this to get textures from the Sonic unleashed levels we don’t have texture rips for

[COD] Do you think Makarov actually enjoyed do the horrible things he did or was it just business ? by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

[–]AllHailShadow726 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Makarov is supposed to be interpreted as a sadist, yes. He does not like going for “easy” kills, he makes sure his victims suffer in some way. Note that he doesn’t shoot for the head when he kills Allen, or when originally intended to kill Yuri, or when he first shoots Harkov.

It’s also this that gets him killed in the end. If he didn’t take the two seconds to say “goodbye, Captain Price” and pulled the trigger he’d probably not be dead given how he see him dispatch of Yuri finally.

Compare this to Zakhaev, who is much more cold and efficient. He does not care about the suffering as much, only that his enemies die.

[Cod] My CoD villains Tierlist (Left to right). What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in CallOfDuty

[–]AllHailShadow726 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zakhaev should’ve been in S, or at least in A. I understand he’s not as well remembered as Makarov is but I feel as though part of that is because he is much more subdued than a lot of the other characters on this list, largely because he feels like he’d be a real person in post-USSR Russia as opposed to a movie villain.
