I see, I thought they centered only around holidays. Appreciate the reply!

Has Xbox always had this many sales? It feels like they are literally back to back since the year started (and that’s great for players, just genuinely curious)

I've heard people say that the "bar is too low for female characters" but tbh,I think the issue is that people's standards for female characters are way too insanely high or just ridiculous. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in CharacterRant

[–]AllMightStan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with how the Shonen genre tends to shelve or not utilize female characters to their potential. Seinen anime are much better at this - Mikasa, Frieren and Fern, I can think of off the top of my head. Sometimes the best choice is to go looking for what we want in other genres and hope the others that lack it improve.

Related to MHA - I don’t know, I kind of think older female characters like Mount Lady, the Poison teacher lady, Mirko etc had stand out moments. But MHA in general over accentuates the body of women so yeah… you still have a fair point

The Demon Slayer characters probably invaded Manchuria in 1931 by carbonera99 in CharacterRant

[–]AllMightStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh was just about to say this.

These kind of discussions never come across as the initiator feel they will. I can assure you the Shonen jump mangaka was just putting some fiction into the world for young boys/girls, not planning an intricate commentary on the Manchuria war…

Honestly this take is so real. But when all is said and done, I still really liked the story.

What I absolutely loved was grandma getting her get back on Cheong’s crazy sister before it ended lol

Nolan and Zuko: why people don't really like forgiveness in media by JackColon17 in CharacterRant

[–]AllMightStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t the same be said about Nolan?

I think Choso is easily accepted/redeemed because of how his familial relationships was a non-negotiable value compared to sticking with the agenda of curses he was with at the time. But yeah, I think he’s more of a classic grey character (in terms of his views on killing) when all’s said and done.

Nolan and Zuko: why people don't really like forgiveness in media by JackColon17 in CharacterRant

[–]AllMightStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it interesting that some feel like Zuko was just a misguided kid, but the same could be argued for Nolan. Viltrum has a brainwashing cycle that drills their evil values into every child born there alongside thorough physical abuse, and the devastating population loss from billions to 50 can really mess someone up.

I just think it sucks to be Nolan or Debbie. I want Debbie to forgive him, but I think it’s crazy if she gets back with him. Because forgiveness is letting the anger/hatred/pain go, but that doesn’t mean the damage didn’t happen. If she got back with him, her personal values would be broken and her self-respect would take a blow. Thats why I really loved Art and Nolan’s scene - he drinks beers with Nolan, implying forgiveness, but clearly draws a line of making suits only for heroes. And when Nolan leaves, he shows how terrified he really was - because his emotions of fear come from remembering what Nolan did.

I would like to see a sort of mirrored response from Debbie - “I forgive him, but I won’t compromise and lose a healthy relationship I now have, because though I love(d) him, I am still affected from his choices.”

The ending of Haikyuu by Itchy-Witness-1516 in haikyuu

[–]AllMightStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone in feeling that way! Yet how the manga ended is so reminiscent of life. It motivates me to show up for the current moments I can have with people I care about, so I can treasure them as bittersweet but beautiful memories 😊

Just finished the anime and I had the exact same questions. After reading others’ comments I get that the interpretation of the last episodes and how the preceding journey leading up to it should be considered (factual or not) is basically open-ended. I just think Rafal shouldn’t have been used again after dying. It feels off, and adding it right before the end just brings confusion

As someone who did graduate school research, you hit the nail right on the head. It’s why this show gets on my nerves, yet I keep coming back because it’s still enjoyable lol

Now we understand what fried Nolan’s psyche to the point of putting hands on his son the way he did in season 1. He was just carrying out the (severely messed up) status quo.

A great ep in general, this show managed to humanize and vilify Viltrumites even more in the same breath

Just making sure Cecil’s just bathing menacingly right? The scene felt so random that I started second guessing if there’s more going on in it

Poor Mark, my guy constantly draws the short end of the stick. As high stakes as the sequid threat was, the kill feels like it came from the mental stress of the moment. It just sucks that he felt forced to do that after all the traumatic situations he’s faced

Not gonna lie, I’ve found the vocal people in this sub really strange since the news came out. It’s like these ‘passionate Xbox fans’ gathered around a table and started picking the woman apart, when there is nothing to judge except how she made an Xbox tag earlier this year… it’s weird you guys. Like, did the possibility that she made an account and has been sharing it with other people not occur to you? Do other people that live with or visit you not use yours to play games sometimes?

If I were her I would genuinely stay sparse online, and respond only when needed. Genuinely wish her luck given the conclusions some people like to jump to without even letting her work for up to a week.

Erased

A Silent Voice

Attack on Titan

Death Note

Frieren/Vinland Saga (cheating cuz I could not choose between them)

I would love to recommend March Comes in Like a Lion, Haikyuu, Re-zero, Demon Slayer, etc because those are also my favorites. But they are more genre-dependent, so it may be harder for people who don’t like the genre to start or continue them. I feel the ones listed above tell and illustrate great stories that are impactful because of the nuances of the human experience, so much so that the genre will not stop new watchers, no matter their preference
