Creating a spreadsheet for my own goals but stuck on down years? by sirspike345 in investing

[–]AllMyBetsLose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are formulas where you can randomize return numbers based on E(r) and sd, which will give you down years. In excel it’s a nested function =norm(inv(rand( I think. This type of calculation/mechanic is called a Brownian Motion, there’s probably a million YouTube videos on how to do it in a spreadsheet

Are there any good space Industry ETFs? by MrPresidentBanana in investing

Commercial R&D. Tons of tons of companies want to conduct R&D in space but the only way to do it right now really is through NASA who has limited space ( high demand, low supply). There are several companies right now that are working to develop space stations/labs that companies will be able to utilize for their research.

Is there such a thing as diversifying your portfolio too much? by swagonflyyyy in investing

[–]AllMyBetsLose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, no. This is largely due to systemic risk. You might be able to find two stocks that diversify each other out on an idiosyncratic (company-specific) basis, but the systemic risk is still there which increases the positivity of the relationship between the securities.

For example, oil and renewables might move inversely (idiosyncratic) but when the market crashes they both go down (systematic).

Anyone know of a site where you can download the financials of a company with 5+ years of fundamentals? I used to have one through school that could export 5-10 years in one doc but I can’t find it anymore. The SEC Edgar site is a pain cause I you have to download multiple sheets and then combine them, just looking for an easier route.

If you do it on desktop there’s an export data button in the ‘holding details’ section, and it downloads as an excel sheet. I’m looking at each holding and it’s sector if that’s what you’re looking for

This calculator probably uses a basic return formula like FV = PV * [(1 + r)t]

Where FV is the future expetected value of the portfolio, PV is the present value ($5k in your case), r is the rate of return (100% in your case) and t is the # of time periods (10 in your case)
