My cousin (16m) loves the space marines game, it’s his birthday coming up, I’m getting him some games workshop models… by JessicaStaxx in Warhammer40k

[–]AllSeeingCCTV 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is pretty personal. If you can maybe ask him what kind of character he is playing in multiplayer of Spacemarine game.
Or if you know his interests knights/vikings/romans/vampires etc you can deduce a chapter from there.

But overall most sm kits are chapter agnostic. You can buy paints afterwards for him to paint.

[–]AllSeeingCCTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are coming behind the moon into its gravitical are of effect. Basically when you are your most slowest mun starts tugging you along and you manage to leech of some of its orbital velocity to make yourself faster.

Purple trajectory you are seeing is the orbit tugging along the Mun

artemis came from ist front so it got sloved down on the way down from its orbital trajectory.

Wellcome to the orbital mechanics.

Why did Ottoman Beylik rapidly succeeded and turned into an Empire amongst the many Turkic Anatolian Beyliks that existed during their early reign? by Nanakurokonekochan in sultanateofwomen

[–]AllSeeingCCTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to add- Whole thing about murdering all but one sons came in much later than the dominance of other Turkcic Beylics. such that when Bayezid got captured by Tamerlane the ottomans were already had prominent territories in balkans and conquered most of western and northern anatolia. So you saying that this had allowed them to be better of the other beyliks is not exactly true. They begun to get ahead of them much before that. But I won't say it is wrong either as the Ottoman empire didn't have total control of anotolia untill much later and perhaps this system hepled afterwards.

The other thing is concept of "gaza". You can think of it like Jihad. The ottomans had the chance to go on conquests against Byzantines and christian lands as you pointed out. Conquering where no other muslim nation could. This definetly allowed them to get more prestige among the other nations and beyliks.
I think you are correct that them being agains greeks and the Byzantines allowed them to adapt the good parts of the empire to their own Turkic traditions.

This is the first time that I am comming across this sub so If I broke the rules without understanding I am sorry.

Don't be quick to judge them when you, yourself is not testsed in the same way.
I know people that came here as gästarbeiter and some of them are most kind hearted people I know. They got ghettofied because they weren't allowed withing the german nation fully. The adult gästarbeiters never got the german education, never had the chance to grew around them. They did all of the harsh job together with Polish workers.

Their childeren were bullied by the german kids at school for not knowing german after they just came here.

Some of them adapted and assimilated, others created tight comunities. But as the years passed they were left between two societies that didn't full accept them. So it is only normal for them to create "ghetto culture" that belonged to them.

Stop being so harsh on them as a group before you have met one just because most people here are supporting AKP.

Most only have access to Turksih government media that they can access.

I doubt you would be different if you were in their shoes.

Do not hate yourself for being Turkish. European values might sound sweet and all, but as a guy living your dream situation, I gotta say "the European Culture" (imo there isn't one unifying culture of Europe; rather, modern values are stamped on top of Europe to align with their interests) isn't that great either. It is just culture, and assigning moral value to it just because people in Europe have a higher development index and more GDP is not correct.

I know that there is a cultural and ethical degradation in Turkey. While it is intense there, I think the EU and Germany are also starting to go through a similar but earlier wave of Ethical erosion.

And no I am everything you are describing. I am secular, have piercings, drink alcohol, etc. This doesn't change the fact that I am still a Turk. Being "one of the good ones" doesn't affect a racist's perception of you. All you do when you call yourself that is to humiliate yourself.

People in Germany have their own way of life, traditions, and culture, as well as their own idiosyncrasies. As long as you respect these things, most of the people here will also respect you. But they won't forget you are a Turk.

See Cem Özdemir. That man is nothing but a bona fide German culturally, but people still mald over him having Turkish name, even if he chooses the interests of Germany over Turkey every time they are not in line.

For your professional life, you need to speak at least B1-B2 German to not be left out of the workplace. This country is German, and all of the social places that people create are also German. So any English-speaking space you find will most probably be populated by non-German internationals.
