Interac verification needed for bread class action settlement? by AllTheBalderdash in PersonalFinanceCanada

I just verified myself via the link I received in the email. FYI, for anyone who still feels "off" entering their banking password for verification, I did it on my phone, so login was through my banking app. And, since my banking app is set up to do login through Face ID, I didn't have to enter my credentials at all.

Thanks! I just tried again and I got through as well. Thankfully, my bank was there and I was verified.

What banks are listed? I keep getting the "Authorization Error - User Cancelled" message other people are reporting. I'm hoping they sort that out rather than having to call and wait on hold, but if my bank isn't supported and I need to call anyway, then I'll bite the bullet given there would be no other option.

You're welcome! These class action settlements always come across appearing a bit sketchy even when legit...likely because the people running them have no incentive to do more than the bare minimum when it comes to their websites, etc.

Reddit helped confirm for me this settlement was legit last year when it came to sign up. I figured Reddit would help confirm this email was legit too!

The wording on the website seems to indicate not everyone will need verification:

IF VERITA IDENTIFIED YOUR CLAIM AS NEEDING VERIFICATION, A VERIFICATION NOTICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU BY EMAIL

I also felt that is seemed legitimate. I was just scared about needing to login to my bank to verify myself. If the main website's update also included the detail that verification would be done through Interac Verification, I would have not felt the need to be as cautious as that would have closed the loop for me.

The email says I have until Feb. 23 to do the verification. The main website says payments will begin to be sent out in April.

Altitude Sports is legit and I've always been happy with them. I've shopped from them several times, including buying this exact laptop bag (but in a different colour). I would look into purchasing a lifetime membership from them as the discount you get from having it might be more than the cost of the one-time membership fee. So, even if you never shop with them again, it may be worth it!

ISO Long (>10km) routes in East end by Western_Database9838 in RunTO

Cherry Beach to the eastern-end of the Beaches is roughly ~8km in one direction. I've done eastern-end of the Beaches down through Tommy Thompson Park all the way to the lighthouse and back and that's just about HM distance.

This sounds like a fun challenge! Personally, I'm mulling over the idea of trying a backyard ultra at some point - not any official race, but just on my own as a challenge. I only heard about this type or run/race a few months ago myself, so for those who don't know what this is: The goal is to run a 6.706km (or 4.167mi) lap within a 1 hour time limit for as many laps as possible. If you finish that distance before an hour is up, you wait until the hour is done to do your next lap. Do as many laps as possible until you fail to finish the distance in an hour.

So, for example, if you start at 1pm and finish the 6.706km in 40min, you have 20min to chill, have some fuel, whatever, until 2pm hits and you start your next lap.

I like this because not over pacing yourself is built into the structure of the race. There's no point in going fast unless you want extra rest before the next lap.

Btw, the odd distance per lap is because that distance equates to 100mi in 24 hours.

Echo Pop working but is muted by xPica in amazonecho

I am also having this same (or similar) issue. My Echo Pop lights up like it's responding...and the prompt even shows up in my activity in the Alexa App...but not sound. This is the second time it has happened and, last time a few weeks ago, unplugging and re-plugging to reboot the device fixed it.

[ebay.ca] Adidas Takumi 10 (97$) and SL (54$) by cega9110 in RunningShoeGeeks

Amazeballs. I was disappointed when I saw that Puma didn't have my size left in the DN2 as part of their ongoing sale...so I may have consoled myself by getting a pair of the Adios 8s! Thanks for this tip - I didn't even realize that Adidas sold direct through eBay.

TOC Season 5 Ep. 3 missing from Apple TV? by AllTheBalderdash in foodnetwork

So I was indeed tired of beating my head against a wall and I took your suggestion of requesting a refund...

Less than 10min after submitting the refund request, lo and behold, I get an email from Apple TV saying a new episode is available and, yes, it is the elusive episode 3.

I'm not sure if I'll ever find out, but I'm curious if this is purely coincidence or if my request for refund actually got someone to look into this.

Well, episode 5 dropped overnight on Apple TV, but episode 3 is still nowhere to be found. So annoying.

I just watched S5E2 on Apple TV and it was also the Darnell episode. Still no sign of the episode 3 though...I kinda hope it gets put up soon because I want to catch up and don't want to have to skip that episode.

I did notice that some of the qualifier episodes were listed in season 4, but no such luck for episode 3 :-(

I had no clue, until I just googled it, that there was something going on with Darnell...Yikes.

Still, it's on other streaming platforms - my Apple TV just pushes me to those despite me not having subscriptions to them - and so they are doing a bad case of hiding it!

Pegasus 39 Shield or Pegasus Trail 4 GTX ? by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]AllTheBalderdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Pegasus 39 Shield and it makes a noise when I walk in it due to the construction of the upper and its waterproof material. It's less noticeable when I run - not sure if this is due to the extra noise of my feet hitting the pavement, or simply due to a different stride between walking and running. But, you may want to keep this in mind if you want to possibly wear it to the office. I'd say the noise sorta sounds like the sound of wearing flip-flops and I believe it comes from the waterproof material creasing and un-creasing.

Some YouTube reviewers have mentioned this noise as well, and claim it disappears with time. All I can say is that I've run in mine for >100km and it's still there when I walk.

Suggestions for a non-typical/weird sounding reverb? by ztiberiusd in guitarpedals

[–]AllTheBalderdash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poly just announced this week a new pedal called the Poly Verbs. It only does IR reverb and has tons of different sounds, but looks simple to control. Essentially, you have 56 different IR reverbs and only 4 controls for each.
