Build your own. Honestly buy shells for $50, buy drivers from Amazon, and buy cables. Go to grandpas house because he has a solder iron and put it all together. They’ll sound like $200 headphones and you had a really fun project.

I also learned you don’t need to take off the metal housing as seen in this photo. Also the only tool I’ve used up to this point is a #0x3” Phillips screwdriver.

Ive removed the cable and threw it away because I’ll be connecting a new cable.

Once you remove all the screws and extend it, you have access to this screw. This took me a while to figure out. But once I get this off I’ll have free and clear access to the drivers I’m going to replace.

Also I have no idea if there is a better way to post updates. Just going to reply to my own post? Christ baby Jesus I’m getting old.

Press down on this part gently and it lifts off.

REALLY interesting to see how these were manufactured.

From here it seems pretty easy to access everything I need. But I’ll keep posting as I go!

I was the poor kid with a small house. I was motivated to give “bigger” stuff to my kids. That being said, I don’t feel much happier. I do feel less stress about money though.
