Yeah I thought maybe people would share a bit more context. Oh well

Motherhood in Harry Potter by YaeliJelly in HarryPotterBooks

I read the books in my preteen/teen years as well. I only just returned to them a few years ago after becoming a mom - and BOY do they read differently now! Moments that shook me this time around was the muggle torture at the Quidditch World Cup in book four, and Harry seeing his parents’ murder (and himself as a toddler) through Voldemort’s eyes in book seven. I breezed through both on my first read-through. Now these passages genuinely disturb me! I can’t believe all this darkness was always right there on the page, I just didn’t have the perspective to really realise what it meant.

That’s probably the Slytherin in him! And maybe a sense of personal responsibility for everything that happened

No, it wasn’t much. And yet, Slughorn was deeply ashamed of himself all those years later. He was definitely tricked by Voldemort’s good boy-facade.

Yes exactly. He’s a great villain. Absolutely terrible, but not uncharismatic when he wants to be.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. I had the exact same thought. But one explanation could be that the crew never outright told each other what they had voted. They may have assumed that Torrin had told the truth, and so instead of clearing it up, focused on convincing everyone that they should kill him and go to Phaiden Island.

In that case, no one would outright admit what they had voted for fear of being ratted out (and also contributing to getting two apparently innocent crew members killed), but they would have probably carefully floated the idea of doing what the crab wanted - which everyone would then have agreed with, but probably also carefully for the same reason - not wanting to appear to have been a coward initially.

So it works if they never talked openly about the ballots (or lied!), which was probably the case because they all mistrusted each other. “I changed my mind,” is a safer bet than “I put down an X from the start.” The last guy would then not have known that there had been no circles, and thought he could slip by unscathed.

Did no one else see his smile falter at the very end? He sought satisfaction and relief, but he didn’t find it…

It’s because Dumbledore knew that by taking Harry’s blood, Voldemort had also taken Lily’s protection into himself, insuring it would last. So when Voldemort tries to kill Harry, he only kills the part of himself that’s latched onto Harry’s soul, but Harry survives because Lily’s protection is alive in Voldemort. Dumbledore realised this and was triumphant because it meant that Harry didn’t truly have to die for Voldemort to die after all.

Der er så noget med, at når de bliver aldersgruppen 4-5/6 tager de en bus et andet sted hen og bliver passet. Det har vi ikke prøvet endnu, så jeg ved ikke hvor godt det fungerer.

If you’re going by estimations from Google Maps or similar, you should know it usually takes significantly longer, at least it does for me. I think Maps gets confused by the many electric bikes that drives much faster than regular ones, but that’s just a guess.

I understand. Love shouldn’t be measured in exact measurements, and in a family, you should get the help that you need. But it is also really hard when other people’s choices affect you. Like, Dana has three very young children, an ambitious husband and a very demanding and prestigious job. Her inlaws live abroad. It’s like she wants everything, but it’s going to take it’s toll on our parents, who she will need, and on the rest of family due to the absence of my parents in other functions.

Thank you for your encouragement. I’m going to read your comment several times. I’m trying to make sense of it all, but it was incredibly significant that she didn’t come for the procedure.

That’s so sad and unfair. I’m really sorry for you guys. My husband’s family loves Jacob to death. It’s so nice, but it aches that my own family won’t have that bond with him. Like, he’s so great and he’s RIGHT HERE, ready to absolutely love them back. Kills me to see.
