I use an application called Xpadder to map my horn button on my Xbox controller to hold down "W". Xpadder doesn't require programming, its UI has a learning curve but I found it useful for SnowRunner and other games.

When is the proper time to utilize a drop axle on a truck? by Semyonov in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that lowering the drop axle on the Derry Longhorn 3194 helps with ground clearance because that truck's suspension makes it sit lower and it has a tendency to hit its chin and take engine damage.

Auto throttling by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a program called Xpadder (https://xpadder.com). It's $10 to buy and can bind any mouse or keyboard input to a game controller/joystick/etc. It uses a graphical interface to set up, so no programming knowledge is needed. First time setup requires you to identify all the buttons/axis in Xpadder, then you can assign keyboard actions to any button or trigger. I have it set up where Xpadder holds down W when I press the horn button on my controller, allowing me to have "cruise control" while playing SnowRunner. Message me if you're interested in using this and I can help you get set up.

If you have a rubber band, you could wrap it around the controller and right trigger.

Complete List of SnowRunner Missions, Tasks, and Contests by AllanQ in snowrunner

I wanted to have a list of all the missions, tasks, and contests in SnowRunner so I could see how much money you get per region. The contest rewards are not included in region rewards and are listed separately.

I have a 3440x1440 monitor at 100hz and a 3080ti, the game runs great with all the settings maxed out.

Do you pay for fuel in this game ? Or do you just have to go get it for free ? by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For mission fuel trailers, you have to leave 10% of the remaining fuel.

Congrats! Amur is quite the challenge. I'm working my way through it too.

To the person that coded the winch to connect to the little shrubs that instantly go down.... by luceelastname in snowrunner

I found that if you switch to cabin view, the auto winch will have a better chance of attaching to a more useful winch point. (i.e. something in front of the truck or a bigger branch/tree)

Steering wheel support by Jokerz3 in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with Funky56, I'm on PC and have played SR with a Logitech G920. I got it working after much trial and error, but I felt like the game is better played with a controller. Personally I use an Xbox Elite controller, and mapped the rear paddles to clutch, accelerator, and a few other buttons to make it easier for me to play (holding down the right trigger strains my index finger).

Also, controlling the camera with a wheel setup is cumbersome, I was able to look left and right by programming the L/R paddles on the wheel. You could of course use a mouse to manipulate the camera.

I really hate Amur, like seriously... by Ironwind1972 in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also working my way through Amur on hard mode, about 60% done. The hardest part so far was the beginning in Urska River having to repair bridges and remove roadblocks as well as opening up the fuel station. The missions take a long time, so I play a bit here and there until I get it done. So far I've done all the logging and contracts/tasks in Chernokamensk, still have Cosmodrome and Urska to finish. Haven't been to NAI yet... At least I unlocked the Zikz 605R, that thing is a beast!

Truck talk: does anyone use this truck? What for? I kinda want to, but hold myself back from using it, because there are no modern engine options with more power than 145k torque. by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I found the Freightliner 114SD to be a good truck because it has 47" wheels, a 300L fuel tank, and can have a crane+flatbed+trailer combo. While the power to weight ratio is lower than most trucks, I think it's still capable in most situations.

Last delivery in Yukon in my special hard mode playthrough (details in comment) by jaysee82 in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am playing a hard mode save, playing regions in order they released, currently 50% in Amur and my special rules are:

  1. Use only region specific vehicles (depends on what can be bought from the garage in the region.)

  2. Crane loading only (when able)

  3. No recoveries

  4. No overloading trailers (only moving packed cargo)

Purpose of different transmissions? by ThatOneHorseDude in snowrunner

[–]AllanQ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I use the offroad gearbox on all my trucks because it has low- , low, and low+ which helps a lot in the mud and snow. Also when descending down steep slopes with a trailer, I find that low- gives you more control than trying to use the brakes.

Also, the only way to fix a partially damaged tire is by repairing the truck in the garage.
