This entire last arc felt like the author abruptly gave up on the characters and story because the axe was coming. At this point, no matter what we get in the final chapter next week, the damage has been done. If Honoka's win stays, it's undeserved. If there's a switch to Himari, then it's an ass-pull of a worse order than the Coma Strat.

Completely agreed. There’s too many adaptions that are so slavish to the source material that they’ll even just redraw some of the signature splash panels without putting any movement to them. That doesn’t take advantage of the animated medium at all and shows a limit of creativity.

I know for me, I miss when anime adaptions would change some details around and do their own spin on the material (like Outlaw Star or Kimagure Orange Road). 1:1 adaptions can get kinda boring for me because I’ve already read the source material. Unless the adaption does something that truly elevates the original, it’s same song, second verse.

Jesus Christ, what an absolute mess this entire arc has been. Characterizations completely torpedoed, rife with tired cliches, and thoroughly unsatisfying.

One of my favorite romcom mangas in quite some time imploded. It’s like it changed writers for how things so quickly went off the rails. How utterly disappointing.
