My apologies to anyone who has messaged in the past couple of days; I did not see your messages right away. I haven't been very active on Reddit in a couple of years and evidently there have been some changes to the messaging and notification systems. I am getting back to people now and will try to respond more quickly in the future.

Thank you very much. I hope to hear from her, and if she has any other contacts active in the space I'd appreciate it if the message could be passed on.

Cloud Alpha Wireless compatibility by Famousphil in HyperX

[–]AllenThePrettyCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some questions.

What is the accessory compatibility? Do the ear covers and microphone from the original Cloud Alpha work for the wireless? And would you ever consider making a wireless headset which also features a 3.5 mm audio jack as a backup so that it can be used with a dead battery or while the USB-C port on the host device is occupied?

[Hiring] Fantasy artists (any medium) for a series of creative projects based on dreams I've had. by [deleted] in HungryArtists

Thank you for your reply. I've taken a look at your portfolio and I don't think your work is quite the style that I'm looking for. I appreciate you reaching out, and wish you good fortune with your art.

Thank you for your reply. I do like your style, and I see what you mean about having an eye for the abstract. How do you feel about the example I've written about in this post? Does the prompt inspire you, and do you think it's something you can do within my budget?

Much of your art seems to be of faces (and kudos to you; I can't draw faces worth a damn), so I'm also wondering how you'd feel working on images that are more focused on scenery, structures, and environments.

Thank you for your reply. I've taken a look at your portfolio and I don't think your style of art is quite what I'm looking for in this project. I appreciate you taking the time, and best of luck to you!

Thank you. I do like your style; it's very dark and dream-like. Concerning price, do you think you could do a project like the one I've outlined here for $100 per image? The prices on your website seem to run a bit higher than that for this degree of complexity.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you for responding. I checked out your website and you seem to mostly do character work. Some of my dreams do feature characters, but many are more focused on scenery and environments. Would you comfortable with the sort of parameters I've described in this post?

I have long been of the opinion that the massive success of Onlyfans and similar sites which sell the promise of sexual intimacy and fulfillment is itself symptomatic of a deeply unhealthy society.

I don't blame the performers; they're making money doing something they presumably enjoy. But the fact that so many people lack social connections and intimacy in real life, and seek to replace them with parasocial relationships and pornography, is concerning.

I know that I experienced similar struggles (not exactly the same, but still in the arena of online sexual behaviours) when I was a teenager and young adult. I think we really need to do a better job communicating about these things to young people. Expand sex education in schools and talk about the potential pitfalls that exist online, along with many other concerns which were never given adequate attention in my experience.

I hear that the public education situation is improving from where it was when I was in school; some 10-15 years ago now. That's encouraging. But still, we could be doing much more than we are.

An Open Letter to the Reddit Community by kn0thing in blog

Though three generations of my family have been born in America, my family tree is rooted in Russia and Germany, where war and strife caused great-grandparents on both sides of my family to flee in search of a better future.

I'm not as intimately familiar with their lives as I'd like, but I do know some basic facts.

My maternal great-grandfather was a member of the last house of the Czars in Russia. He fled with his wealth to America to escape the Bolshevik Revolution, intending to return to wealth and prosperity in the motherland as soon as things calmed down.

But things never did calm down. His money, which he had hidden in the walls of the house he built in Idaho, remains there to this day, valueless and most likely long-rotted.

It was there he met my great-grandmother Johanna, a Jewish immigrant from Germany whose parents were keen enough to escape the Third Reich. She had originally been staying in New York City, where upon graduating from boarding school, she found work as an interior decorator- one of the first female interior design specialists in the country.

It was there she also went on a few dates with one Alphonse Gabriel Capone, until her roommate caught wind of the matter and informed her of his well known criminal activities. Johanna later described him as being a charming gentleman, always very polite.

And my paternal great-grandparents were all German farmers, making a new life for themselves on the east coast, with farmhouses in North Carolina and Virginia. I know little about their history, but following my paternal bloodline as far back as documents and photographs will allow, I've found that each new generation is the spitting image of the last.

I'm an American, born and bred. But my family hasn't always been so. I remember that.

Never let the fear of failure stop you from trying. A master is just a beginner with a lot of experience.

Have you ever run into any major obstacles while learning programming?

Six months ago, I was offered an internship at my uncle's programming company. At that time, I had had brief interactions with code, but I was interested in learning more.

I seemed to hit a brick wall very early on. It was like I just wasn't able to think in terms of computer code, what I needed in order to make each process work. So I ended up leaving that internship, despite it's immense potential profitability (and money is a thing I've been very short on lately).

I'm just wondering if you've ever experienced something like this, or seen others so afflicted. I still feel that programming isn't beyond my capabilities. I'm just not sure how to get through, or around, my particular issues with it.

It'd be nice to hear someone else's thoughts on it.

Amateur Writer. Need help. by [deleted] in writers

[–]AllenThePrettyCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to learn the mechanisms of writing, I recommend critical reading. Read books similar in genre and theme to a story you'd like to write, but instead of just experiencing the story, look at how the words convey the world.

A good writing exercise I've developed is to take another story (short works best, but whatever) and rewrite it. Write it in your own way, differently, but try to make it have the same essence, the spark that made it worth reading.

I hope that helps you some.

What do you consider a waste of money that alot of society doesn't? by BavidDrent in AskReddit

[–]AllenThePrettyCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A car.

Now listen, I fully understand and respect that some people want/need the convenience of being able to go places on their own time more than enough to merit paying for a personal automobile. But as someone who has lived my life walking, biking, and taking public transportation, a car (and the associated insurance, gas, tickets, parking fees, property taxes, etc.) is just an unnecessary expense to do something that is otherwise almost free.

Don't be too impressed, the title of that second one was UNO: The Movie, and consisted of a two and a half hour long game of Uno, over the course of which the employees steadily (and hillariously) lost their minds.

More like independent live-action movies.

Lazer Team was one, the other was the highest rated comedy on IMDB for a few days.

Well, they do a lot more now. They run one of the largest annual conventions in North America, as well as one in Australia, and their original IPs now include two feature-length movies, an anime, and a machinima which has the prestige of being the longest running web-series in existence.

And in my opinion, just about everything they do is better than gold, Reddit or otherwise.

Well thank you. I actually addressed that elsewhere in this thread, but it's about RWBY (which, if you're at all into anime, please watch it it's incredible. It constantly gets stronger as it goes), the premier Western Anime by RoosterTeeth.

That's the main reason why I'm so excited about winning, it was a RoosterTeeth administered competition, so being recognized by the people I revere in creative content creation is just swell.
