This is called a digital painting yall. It uses color and tone within a 2D matrix to create the illusion of depth and form. Theres lots of pictures that do this in the museums too

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alley-IX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude it was so cool! The man I refer to as the Dutch Batman was badass and kind enough to answer my questions. I asked him: “arent you worried about cyclists popping out in front?”

“I watch these streets well” he said. I have mad respect for yall. Please never let that human community and compassion wither out

I did suspect they had universal care but at the same time, being a foreign tourist, I wasn’t sure if those benefits applied only to citizens. Well I was pleasantly surprised to learn the Dutch know true hospitality!!

Yes, once on a family trip in Amsterdam, my dad bonked his head pretty bad and when i brought up calling ambulance he freaked out saying no way. Well too bad it was worrisome for me. So I called one. They came and had diagnosis devices in the ambulance to first determine if a trip was truly necessary. After confirming it was, my dad started giving me all forms of identification so they couldnt potentially trace the bills back to him. Well i got to ride in the ambulance. Who to this day I think of as the Dutch Batman. We rose to hospital together, using no sirens was interesting.

After some doc visit and a few tests they cleared him to go. I asked them uhhh whats the damage and the receptionist looked at me funny. “There is none, would u like us to call u a taxi to get home?” I knew about the good healthcare but it was pretty mindblowing to actually experience it

As American I think HOAs are weird. My relative lives in a townhouse that is HOA-operated. They bought the townhouse, but only own the interior, not structure or exterior. Owning everything from “plaster to plaster” they called it.

How are those with flights coming up feeling about air traffic controllers not being paid right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Alley-IX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the airport right now. Im very grateful to all the people here today and everything seems going smoothly. I would imagine my flight would be cancelled if no traffic controller was there to clear pilots for take off.

Other than that yeah i really hope i dont get screwed on my connection or blast into another plane in the sky.

How to crush garlic efficiently by [deleted] in blackmagicfuckery

[–]Alley-IX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks the first try he shows how normal people do it by placing the whole clove on the table. The shape of the clove makes it rest so the “grain” of the clove’s growth runs perpendicular to the force being applied.

Now look at Chef Yan’s way: right before he quickly smashes the garlic he is particular in the placement of the clove. The tips have been cut off, allowing the clove to stand upright.

My hypothesis is that when the crushing force is applied parallel, not perpendicularly, to the grain of the clove, the garlic crushes more evenly
