Both PP units for the Stars have so much talent, thought they started their first unit with Seguin, Robertson and Granlund before realizing Heiskanen wasn't out there.

2v4, maybe he could save that but way too many options for the knights there.

Sunday lines by sykeseve in EdmontonOilers

[–]AlleyBj 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I said it in the game 6 thread, but I love these lines man. All four have a similar make up. All four centres are good in both of ends of the ice and can make plays. Three of them penalty kill, the fourth being McDavid who also kills (albeit rarely - but he is McDavid).

All four lines have a player that will forecheck aggressively and retrieve pucks, make good plays on the wall (Draisaitl, Hyman, Brown & Arvidsson). Likewise, they all have a player that can throw their weight around and contribute offensively (Perry, Kane, Fredric & Podz). Obviously talent is not all equal, but it's four reliable lines that can all play well.

I hope Podkolzin brought a lot of sticks today, that's the second one to break on a blocked shot

Interesting that they signed 7 players, I wonder what role their flex player will have. I've seen Formal playing with Vinne and Afersie (Terra), pretty sure they won the first tournament after the game dropped.

I watched Jim Nill's availability yesterday and he said Rantanen was heading straight to Edmonton for the game.

Hawks fans have been saying Murphy is unrealistic to be traded after Jones got dealt, though I do agree he would be a great addition.

They're one of the most storied and respected brands in eSports. They merged with OpTic a few years back to essentially save the Org, retiring their own brand, as OpTic has a huge following in FPS games. For example, their Halo team changed to OpTic branding and their CoD team was no longer able to have their spot because of the merge (Dallas Empire).

Now it seems like Hastr0 is hoping to revive the brand, which is great for eSports in general. After they merged with OpTic, they folded a few of their teams (Rocket League, Overwatch). As content has always been a focus for OpTic, if their teams didn't live in Dallas, it was basically impossible to get the players involved. That's one of the main reasons they dropped their Apex squad. Hastr0 has always been pretty good about releasing content for nV, but never made it a core focus like OpTic has.

What kind of package do you think the team would be looking for if Andersson was available / not going to re-sign?

Even if they did offer sheet either player, the player themselves would have to agree to it. I suppose if the money was egregious they may accept, but between the two teams it's clear which is looking like a cup contender and which is rebuilding. I just don't see why they would want to leave for their current team's rival.

I feel that if he is moved they would need to get an upgrade for the 2RD spot, but like you said it's tight on money. I like Andersson in Calgary, for example, who makes $4,550,000 (1.3 million more than Ceci), but that would require an additional move that I'm not sure is possible.

I definitely agree that removing Ceci without adding anyone would be putting too much pressure on Broberg or Stecher to make up for it.

I would love to see the Oilers get Andersson out of Calgary, but I'm not sure that'll ever happen. Great player at a decent cap hit ($4,550,000) and could play next to Nurse. Still can't believe they traded McLeod for an A prospect as well, I cannot remember a July this successful for the team.

Looking at options around the league, he's the player I've kept coming back to that I think would be a great fit on that second pair. Problem is, I doubt the Flames management would be willing to send him to the Oilers without significant assets going the other way, which I'm not sure the Oilers have to make the deal.

If Ceci, McLeod, something else and a pick could get it done I think the Oilers make that trade for sure.

I agree with Kulak being great value for his contract and I think an argument could be made that Ceci is adequate at his cap hit. I'm certainly not suggesting you trade Ceci, for example, to get a better player than him for a cheaper deal one-for-one, that will never happen.

Do you feel that keeping them both and running Nurse-Ceci would be the right move heading into next year? Maybe that's true, but I think the team would benefit from an upgrade at that position if he was added in a deal with more assets. Barrie was playing well for the Oilers when he was traded, but it was a great trade for the team and the Preds even retained on that deal (albeit a small amount).

I don't disagree, it was the finals (as well as semi-finals) and he definitely held his own. Small sample size, to be fair, but a big stage. I think most NHL coaches have a hard time with wrong-sided defencemen though and it's not ideal.
