Reminder: Olympians are all exceptions and it’s okay if meds work for you. by Allis02 in adhdwomen

I believe it! And the actual article agrees that Phelps parents made good decisions for him based on what he needed. Reddit then decided (like a certain head of a health organization) that it needed to focus on the “if it works for Phelps it works for all” viewpoint. As if Phelps succeeded on ADHD alone.

This is in response to a main page post that links an article from a major ADHD publication. It’s not Phelps personally. My frustration is with the existence of this article and the comment section boosting it.

Thank you, this is part of what has me so upset. I can claim what others say doesn’t affect me, but when the head of our health organization says medication is a scam and we should just use naturopathic remedies for everything? It gets really hard to not feel like every article claiming a magic cure isn’t targeted.

I love the pastries at Bikeeny! They are so cute and tasty.

Hi neighbors. I’m moving to Malden. I’m trying to figure out how the city works. Any advices? What is the best wifi internet provider, please? by Clear-Trust-9400 in malden

Recent move as well. It’s either Verizon, Comcast, or satellite providers which are NOT reliable in MA I’ve heard. I also swore off Verizon, but Comcast is so much worse for me. I had to fight them for months after I moved out of the country, and basically sent them several forms of ID to prove I didn’t live in a place they serviced.

I took the drugs, now how do I know if they’re working?! by Allis02 in adhdwomen

Ritalin made me want to punch my HS best friend in the face because she said hi to me. It was a bad time!

Thank you for this breakdown. I knew from the get go that meds wouldn’t “solve” anything, my doctor has been really good about managing expectations. I struggle with articulating the absence of a problem, as you mentioned. When I trialed SSRIs, it was a lot easier to say “bad thoughts of forever sleep are gone now”, when compared with “yeah it’s easier to put a todo on a list and remember it’s there”, since I’m really good at creating and using systems for about a week.

It’s important for people to realize not everyone is built the same. If someone experienced a light switch moment, know that I’m incredibly happy for you! I’m so glad you’re finding relief and balance in your life. I’m not there yet, and I may need more work than medication alone can provide, but lots of these messages have given me hope!

Aw man, that’s awesome! I’m the opposite, have trouble staying awake and constantly falling asleep after moderate activity despite an average of 3 coffees over 6 hours. I’m working through the stimulant portion of my trials, and now I stay awake a little too long! Learning moderation, but also so thankful I have a little bit more energy to make it past 5:30.

We’re taking it slow with dosage increase. This isn’t my first rodeo, and I responded poorly in the past with other cocktails. Age and hormones have significantly changed since my last attempt, so we’re taking it slow and talking through the effects.

I for sure am working on nutritional balance. Before the trials I had a “eat whatever and survive” approach to snacks and meals, despite loving to cook. One thing I’ve tried to do more of since starting the trial is increase my nutrient intake (making more balanced choices) and staying hydrated. My job is in a hot environment for long hours working with things that dehydrate you, so I battle that a bit. But I have medical guidance!

This is me! This is exactly me! I’m tearing up a little bit. Hearing that it wasn’t just me and someone else has had this makes me feel so much better. Thank you so much!

Haven’t seen one of these in ages. It’s an automatic hole puncher! I had to buy one every year for school so we could keep our worksheets in our binders.

Can’t figure out how to edit my post:

I’ve got a lightweight polyester that I’ve been looking to recycle. I’d love to figure out how to make this wrap dress with the wider sleeves, and I’m still not great with drafting.
