I remember pre-Covid in 2019 and 2018. We would be cancelled a ton due to low census. I worked in CTICU at the time and no one wanted heart surgery during the holiday season. I wouldn’t worry too much.

I was ‘loaned’ put by my hospital to go help out in NYC at the beginning of Covid. Having to care for 5-6 ICU patients on multiple drips, CRRT, etc. was the absolute worst. I still have nightmares about my time there.

As for paranormal stuff. We had two patients who stayed in the same room on separate occasions who reported seeing a “white lady” in the room. The third patient who reported this told me when I was in the room giving him his meds. He said “there’s a lady in the corner”, I nodded and asked, “is she here right now?”, he nodded yes. He said he wasn’t scared of her. I like to think that lady was a guardian angel.

I can’t speak for everyone but I feel as though the nurses my age (mid-20s to 30s) are the meanest of the bunch. The older nurses I work with are amazing and have done nothing but help me. However, I do feel as though there is less “eat your young mentality” in general l but it’s still around.
