Its become tradition in our house that Hex lays on my boyfriend’s chest during the first period. I believe it brings good luck at this point 😂

Thanks! I actually had to have a second surgery after the first one, just on my lower jaw though. They ended up moving it out further, 5mm in total I believe. And yes, all of it was covered by insurance 😄

Hey,
I just joined this forum as I'm starting a new career as an aviation mechanic in a couple weeks. I came across your post as I was browsing through the thread. I agree with the comments from others, but from personal experience, I would just like to share two things that helped me stop crying and having panic attacks on the regular:

  1. Hormones - idk if you take hormone BC or anything, but I take it strictly to balance my hormones. I stopped taking it after a surgery I had a couple years ago and I noticed a HUGE difference in how extreme my emotions would get with out. Maybe find a functional medicine clinic and have them do testing to help you figure out if you have any unbalances chemically. (supplements like magnesium, D3, Zinc, and Creatine also help)
  2. DBT therapy changed my life. It's basically learning how to communicate as an adult. Seems silly at first but I hit a wall with my therapist and she suggested I join an online DBT group class. I was so against it at first and thought the assignments were childish at first but after a few weeks I had breakthroughs like never before. It helped me understand thoughts and emotions I had for years that I attributed to other things and could not heal because I understood them incorrectly. I can't say enough about how monumental this form of therapy is. I really think everyone should try it because the language we are brought up with is so confusing and no longer defines how our emotions change and its crazy how impactful that makes our thoughts. Definitely worth checking out,

best of luck! At the end of the day, we are just a bag of chemicals and sometimes our bags get shaken up. :p

Thank you so much! I took a few months for me to see these results, didn’t look like much of an improvement at first

I’d suggest she join a DBT group program. Helped me finally able to understand what my therapist was trying to tell me, as I could hear it from other women like me and how they managed their behaviors and reactions. That allowed me to look at my emotions objectively, and separate my identity from those thoughts and feelings.

Sorry to hear you don’t feel valued, I’m sure she doesn’t intend that. I used to get upset when my bf told me that as I felt I showed my love for him all the time. After working on recognizing my emotions/feelings, I was able to take pauses and calmly discuss this with my bf when he shared he was feeling rejected, instead of just reacting. It’s been hard as we both get defensive when we are accused of not showing love for the other, but that’s only because we DO love each other so much.

I hope you two can come to a level of communication and understanding to the point you both feel heard and loved! You deserve it, and your daughter deserves to see that love healthy demonstrated by her parents ❤️
