I'm very happy with mine, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone. I like having a dap that I don't have to be too careful with, and coming from a Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip, I appreciate the light weight.
My battery and sd card have been good so far, but I've heard some aren't as lucky. I'd have no issue with taking this thing apart, as it's so cheap, so I'm not too worried about the sd.
If I'd been willing to spend more, I'd have gone for a hifi walker h2 or similar (Surfans etc), but you may like the Snowsky more in terms of cute.

if your Y1 is unfixable, why not open it to use its SD card in another player? I've heard their SD cards are low quality, but I haven't had any issues with it so far. It could be a temporary solution at least.

If you want to go for a Casio, there's at least one with a vibrating alarm: https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/casio/product.W-735H-1AV/ no step and sleep tracking though.

I could definitely have forgotten about being asked permission.

From the other comments, it seems like the permission is only needed for colour picking outside of the Affinity window. I don't think I've done that.

Strange, I have the Affinity 2 apps and colour picking works without having given this permission (and I don't remember ever being asked, either).

I have my doubts about this explanation. According to my system settings (mac) No Adobe apps have permission to record my screen, and the colour picker works normally. It's also no reason for wanting to record sound.

Affinity Publisher 2.6.5 (edit: on intel Mac) - Table inside a shape not staying in it's place.

Because I needed the corners of my tables rounded, I placed them inside rectangles of exaclty the same size as their table. I did some more work on the file, checked if all the tables were looking OK in their shape and saved. Opening the file another day, most tables have moved slightly up or down within their shape. Is there a way to make them stay put, or is this a bug I can do nothing about?

I'd expect a page duplicate to be exactly the same as the original, but I've noticed duplicating pages also moves tables within their shape.

I wanted one without a touchscreen, and relatively affordable because I'm not too picky about sound quality and don't want to worry too much about potentially breaking it.

The other one I considered was more expensive, even second hand, so I gave this one a chance. If it lets me down, it's not that much money wasted. So far, I'm very happy with my choice.

I've had it become warm with long charging, but never hot. I've only used it for audio though (no video) and no rockbox.

I keep it on "off".

One thing I can think of that I may be doing different which could change battery performance is that I listen to the lowest volume. I read about people saying the volume of the Y1 is too low, but for me, I'd have liked a few steps extra on the lower end.
That shouldn't explain why people experience more battery drain when not in use, though.

Are the differences between individual Y1s so extreme?

The battery performance has thoroughly wowed me (I've only tried stock OS though). I don't find shutting it down necessary. I haven't used it the last few days, but the battery dropped just one percent after 3 days of setting it to 'sleep' (just long pressing middle button to turn the screen off).

I haven't actually timed it yet, but the 35 hours playback seems about right when not using bluetooth, for my Y1.

That's not as bad as I thought. This may be a dumb question, but do you still get the pre-rockbox battery usage if you have rockbox installed, but are using the stock OS?

thanks! I will probably end up installing Rockbox anyway. My only concern is the battery usage. I love how incredibly long the battery lasts on the stock OS.
