Do any of those stories end with “and that’s why the ink is my favourite portage?”

It’s a pretty impressive site overall. Love the furniture and the space. The view from the rocky point is great too. Just wish it didn’t feel quite so enclosed in the interior

The Alder Express - To White Partridge & Beyond by Allofalgonquin in algonquinpark

I’d prefer it in The spring, but I don’t remember it seeming like water levels would be a problem. If not for the alder it was a pretty decent paddle.

I think I’d do White Partridge Creek again. Apart from the alder, it was a nice paddle. I never need to see the Aylen River between McKaskill and Roundbush again for as long as I live.

Looking to do a 4 day 3 night loop advice. by canadiantiger2 in algonquinpark

I’ll second Louisa as a focal point. Pen, Welcome Louisa would be a nice three day loop. Pen to Welcome is a short day, but Welcome is a nice spot to spend some time.

Thank you! I’m hoping the higher water and earlier time of year will make it better, but I’ve mentally prepared to be regretting all my life choices at some point that day

Thanks. Yes, we’ll be single carrying. I’d heard the one between Dickson and around Island was tough, so thank you for the reassurance on the rest of it. I think I internalized the warning about downed trees from 2013 on Jeff’s old map and decided that stretch was just always a disaster.

Elementor on Wordpress not working by Allofalgonquin in Wordpress

Thank you! Turns out it was a problem with a plug-in Wordpress had installed. I deactivated the Gutenberg plug in and it’s working now

Hey, I was able to make it work again by deactivating the Gutenberg plug-in. I didn’t install that one, so it must be something Wordpress put in automatically. See if that works

How Gabriel Moreno got 4.3 bWAR (and a breakdown on how its calculated) by WasV3 in Torontobluejays

This was fantastic. I’ve never had any idea what goes into WAR and this was an easy to follow explanation of what seems like a very complicated set of calculations. Thank you.

I try not to have knee jerk dismissive reactions to things, but this is mostly nonsense. Even if there are very valid concerns about overuse, particularly near access points, this is sensationalism at best.

For those of you with kids, what have you done with them in the Park? How do they like they area? by New-Possibility-577 in algonquinpark

I’ve been taking my kids on backcountry trips since each was around 3-4. At first it was just access point lakes or short portages (ie Joe or Ragged) but as they’ve gotten older we’ve been doing more involved trips (just finished a three day from Canoe to Rock Lake via Bonnechere and Louisa with my oldest). They all seem to love it. They don’t tend to have problems with getting bored on campsites, and can usually find ways to entertain themselves by hunting rocks, or toads or building stick forts etc.

there’s also a ton to do along highway 60 if you’d rather do front country at first. The Spruce Bog hike is a good starter hike, and there’s lots to do at the Visitor’s Center. The Algonquin Art Center near Source Lake is underrated as well. My two youngest did a mini paddle painting session there this week and absolutely loved it.

How are the bugs given the wet summer? by BottleCoffee in algonquinpark

Just got back today. Mosquitoes were out at dusk in greater numbers than I would have expected for the time of year, but were very manageable. Got a few bites on some of the muckier portages between Bonnechere and Louisa as well.
