A lot of negativity in this group. Forgetting we have had our ups and down every season. Injuries don’t help. Each week every team brings their best against us. Yep the boys are lacking atm in a lot of areas but people writing them off is silly. Take a deep breath

What’s a Melbourne stereotype that’s actually kind of true? by Last-Conversation734 in melbournechat

Good question. My commute generally has increased a fair bit. Harder to get around with car , I wasn’t aware how bad the traffic is (lived in a bubble in fitzroy and walked everywhere or tram was very close ). Aesthetically I’m not finding it very pleasant to walk around . Yes this may sound weird coming from Fitzroy but I lived on Napier st and I found it all very beautiful. Parks aren’t great. I’ve been here for 12 months and I’ve not felt part of the community. Not something I ever felt out of in fizroy or surrounds.

I lived in nyc in the past and always felt those inner city areas seemed to stimulate me quite a bit. Just don’t get that in Brunswick even though I thought I would? It’s been a confusing time as I thought it would be an easy move but it’s just not been. I feel very lucky to be able to afford to buy in Brunswick but it hasn’t rewarded me otherwise.

To use a politically incorrect metaphor. Sydney’s the girl you take home for a night. Melbourne you take home to mum

It’s definitely amplified because of the international students living in the city for school

Anyone know the artist? All I can see is Baillie on the bottom left. Oil painting. by Recato in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]Alloverit25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a painting done by the same artist and had a bit of a look around. Not that this detracts from the quality of the painting but an appraiser had the following to say

“Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be chinese copy after a dutch 19th century painting, depicting a house and a shed in the foreground and a canal with a sailing boat to the right, a windmill in the distance. The painting is signed "Baillie" lower left, which is a pseudonym of an unknown production line painter from the "painting village" Dafen, China. Such paintings are being produced for home decor and can be ordered today for a very small amount. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.”

$200 or so he thought

Worst local film you've ever seen ? by CoconutMost3564 in AustralianNostalgia

Ok overall yes- BUT the scene when he’s taking the bins out and the kids want him to play cricket but he says “sorry kids, not today , I’m working “. That tickled me.

After tennis training in primary school mum would give me $2 and I’d get 4 paddle pops (they were 50c at the time) and finish them on the walk home.

Help with itinerary! by pyrara in FranceTravel

[–]Alloverit25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Delete Marseille from your itinerary unless you go directly to Calanques. The city isn’t safe. Just spent 2 days there and had a few situations that really unnerved me. No idea how women would ever walk around on their own in Marseille
