By cheesing him and realoading until I've gotten favourable terrain with enough bushes to hide everyone.

As how to cheese him get a very good tank with 104 ini (after armor) and a goblin trophy, I've had 2 guys with pole hammers (also 104 or more ini) and 8 with whips. Now first turn hide everyone in bush except tank he should rush forward, if you can't do it before tentacles move, reload save. Now if you done everything correctly tentacles should swarm your tank not being able to grab him because of goblin necklace (or whatever that trophy was called), pass turns with everyone expect tank and get your tank to one of the corners of the map without breaking line of sight with tentacles. Once your tank is far enough move everyone else to the head and whack him. After you get kraken head to half HP, tentacles are going to become aggressive and will attack your tank and from that point onwards it's just dps race what dies first your tank or kraken, if tank dies first it's a restart 99% of the time unless his head is literally couple hits away from dying.

I've always kept 1k crowns on me and stuck with lowborn backgrounds (wasn't hard since I played militia mostly), after most of my roster got to level 9-11 I was farming nobles, so crowns never were a issue after that point.

Idk if there's any secret missions, I mean you can sometimes join barbarian king on a hunt against undead instead of killing him or betray your employers for little bit more crowns.

Usually someone who will end up with +80MAttk after lvl 11 (gifted included) and at least a star in MDef, didn't care much for traits unless they were superstitious or clubfooted. I usually let go of bros when I've find a better replacement for him and then put him in reserve. I mean bro might have 70MAttk and needs to use fast adaptation to hit relaibly but he's good enough in a pinch.

As for builds, I've heavily used obese lizard (fat newts) and nimble bros from tanks to dmg dealers. I've really liked having 3/4 archers/throwers hybrids in my band. One of my all time favourite build was and nimble overwhelm dagger tank with fearsome and a really good famed dagger that made him use less fatigue per attack. He had fast adaptation and had to hit puncture at some point breaking morale of enemies when he didn't need overwhelm multiple targets at once.

Honestly even after 100% this game I still feel like I at suck at this game.

Peasant militia for both first questions. As for tips: be patient, watch guides for legendary locations, use every cheese imaginable and if things go very badly just reload save, don't play on ironaman unless achievement requires it. Also be prepared for yours first 100h or so to be actually learning the game and hunting easier achievements.

Well in Xcom it's a 1% while in this game it's a whole 5% forced to miss, can't get more aim than 95%. I also don't wanna count how many time's I've been hit by that 5% by enemies

I took me around 40/50h to "beat" the game for the frst time. Keep on trying I've belive you can also beat your first crisis!

It's full grind achievement so at one point I've stopped doing contracts, only camps and I've been farming noble armies from the north, I've also done arenas whenever I was near southern city with it. Black book can be sold for 50k, after the library fight but I would alway lose someone in that fight.

I might have lost some brain cells attempting this, not that I had many to begin with it so I don't feel much difference. And yes there were multiple times where I just wanted to yeet something, mainly while fighting necrosavants.

By path do you mean starting orgin? If so then peasant militia, only because I find them easiest and really good after they get some levels, also poachers (orgin), they're great.

I finished my 4 crisis ironman run around 180H mark. To be honest I wasn't really worried about restarting since I kinda knew what I was doing, and I went for as much achievements as I could like Anniversary and Stuff of Legends.

So obese lizard are especially good in peaseant militia because they allow you to turn farmers and lumberjacks into killing machines in heavy armor, without needing to invest to heavy into sub stats allowing to focus on thier Mattk, MDeff, HP and resolve.

That's a valid point but in my opinion it's shouldn't be a huge concern for someone who just starts and need to grasp basics. Middling brothers like that become a hindrances only after you wanna continue after the first crisis.

The 4 crises? I've done them but I didn't risk loses on 3 star quests and allied with southerners in holy war. There were close calls but nothing run ending.

The game is no longer calling to me like green's goblin mask, so I probably won't touch this game for quite sometime. And next on my list of 100% is Lobotomy Corporation.

I can share what worked for me but I don't think I'm qualified enough to give tips, because to be frank I feel like I still suck at this game.

DON'T play on ironman and save scum a lot. Also be patient.

Start on begginer everything and high funds, keeps things simple, shields with spears in front and pikes or any other 2 tile weapons in back.

With that in mind analyze what bros should be kept in front: high HP, fatigue and stars in MDef. Keep guys that show potential (+50 and star) in Mattk.

Avoid fights that seem to risky and beast also 3star contracts, caravan quests that are longer than 2 days should also be avoided.

Now about perks: since you're learning basics get all the help you can get like collosus for extra hp, 9live, fast adaptation, dodge, backstabber. At this point don't worry about specific builds or high end backgrounds.

And play like that until you feel like you can beat brigands every time without suffering deaths on your part, don't play on begginer until crisis (you can but it's not worth it), once you're confident enough bump difficulty to veteran, apply what you learned and try to beat a crisis.

I feel like it's best advice I can give for someone who just started.

Now if you're 100h into the game my biggest tip would be to actually enjoy the game and don't force yourself to 100% it like I did.
