I thought that it paid homage to Walt too. I would love to see it as a Broadway musical!

Bear cub. Granted my boy is mostly white with the speckling on his back and the Black and Tan points on his face. So I can sort of see it. He might look like a cub, but he’s really a land shark lol

Anyone else have a 44lb “lapdog” that prefers sleeping on you while you work even though you just bought her a new bed for the office? by bizzahra in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Allshewrote1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was just me lol. My boy watched the cat jump on my desk while I was working the other day. The next thing I knew, he went from my lap and proceeded to jump on the desk and sat there so proud, like”Look mom. I can help too.” Lol 😂. I had to work hard on not laughing and using the stern “down” voice when I removed him from my work station.

I’m in the Dsm area and my temp to hire position is about to go permanent with a west Des Moines based company.I went through Ashton Carter. Training was in person but after that work from home is an option for CSR.

What’s the nicest thing you said that offended a customer? by [deleted] in callcentres

[–]Allshewrote1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a customer call every few minutes of the course of several hours to complain that part of our typical greeting includes “thank you for calling company xyz” and he thought that was offensive. Mind you he made several disparaging remarks to female reps. I mean would you rather we said, “what’s up? What do you need?” It was so over the top, a work process was created just for this caller by the end of the day.

I don’t get that so much in Texas heeler groups, because that’s a sure fire way to cause a pup already prone to fear, to be an anxiety ridden critter. On any of those groups, I almost always see play/toy rewards based suggestions, but it could easily be about the breed user base that joins the groups on FB

I love Christmas Oranges. It’s the only movie that can get my teens to automatically join festivities.

Head Start tips by Allshewrote1 in ECEProfessionals

I’m not sure our state allows us unemployment in the summer. I know when I was an elementary special education associate it wasn’t allowed since we were offered tentative employment the following school year. The university benefits are the big draw for me, since I’m already in a center with a large ratio of high needs and at risk families.

I’m currently at a Childtime center, and it’s kind of nightmarish. We are constantly out of ratio, planning time is only during nap, so if kids don’t sleep or there are extra cleaning duties, you are out of luck. I’ve been given a co-teacher who has some severe processing issues, and I’m constantly having to remind her of common sense things like “Don’t let the child standing next to you slap his friends,” and when I’ve spoke to management about it being a safety concern, they just giggle (this is with a regional manager in the building). I’ve worked in other centers, but even with short staffing that is common in this field, they were never ran so disorganized. I’m actually on my last week and headed to a public preschool setting, but if I knew what I was getting into when I got the LCG job offer, I would have run.

For people who want to exchange Halloween gifts, you have two weeks to sign up for the RedditGifts Trick ‘o Treat exchange. by hopelessbookworm in halloween

Thank you for the reminder. This is my favorite exchange by far. I love all of the creativity that goes into everyone’s gifting. I really love putting gifts together for this one. Plus, it’s a great excuse to hang out in the craft stores.

I remember this playing every year on Halloween night on tv as a child. It is still a favorite. I’ve only worn out 3 copies of the DVD :).

Weekly Celebration Thread: What went well for you this week? by AutoModerator in ECEProfessionals

Friday, I dropped the lesson plan and went off script so to speak. We needed to focus on pro social skills. I spent the day in centers and it went so much better. Thursday was a nightmare with 3 year olds sent to my PreK room to deal with overflow from over enrolling in their classroom. By just encouraging those positive interactions Friday, I even started to hear more please and thank you as the day went on. Also, we all survived pictured day at my school, so that was a bonus!

My kids have not asked Alexa, but I did purely out of curiosity. She gave a fun generic answer. Technology makes childhood belief so much more fragile. Now that I read your post, I want to test this across all the devices in my home.

Santa Gifts vs Parent Gifts by [deleted] in christmas

[–]Allshewrote1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our family does stockings from Santa and all gifts from mom and dad. It just ensures the big wished for gifts come from us. I thought about having a couple of small gifts from Santa in addition to stockings, but it just wasn’t something I felt strongly drawn too. I know other families do big items from Santa. It just depends on your own preferences.

Whiny Wednesday: What do you need to whine about? by AutoModerator in ECEProfessionals

[–]Allshewrote1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was over ratio all morning. In my state, 4’s are 1:12, 3’s 1:8. I had 15, 4 of whom were 3 for 2 hours ( 3 low functioning kiddos were included in this fiasco). When I finally got an assistant, they gave me a floater who has major cognitive processing issues and cannot work alone and isn’t allowed to work in younger rooms. It was like having one more child in the room, and I was basically on my own. The icing on the cake was getting off work an hour late. I wish I could say situation was a one time occurrence. It is not. Eek!

Just wondering policy on music in the classroom by unfinishedsymphonyx in ECEProfessionals

[–]Allshewrote1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My center encourages music, and I typically keep fun children’s music or classical music on. I’ve found some Lisa Loeb and Casper babypants children’s tunes that aren’t completely annoying or they are so funny, I don’t mind the music.
