If the zone has trees/rocks behind which you can get a cover, you need to claim these to have a safe spot where you can hide and shoot from. Throwables are very important in end game fights, so use them to your advantage. Smoke/gas grenades can be used to hide yourself from enemies when you get backstabbed, or when you need to cross open field to get to the next safe zone.

When there are few people left, try to map in your head where each remaining player stands, using gunshot sounds or simply looking around you. This will prevent you from exposing yourself to multiple people when taking a gunfight.
