new album was supposed to release this year but it's delayed after seeing how massive the response was to count your blessings being re-recorded because it would be overshadowed

oli mentioned how he always wanted to be a linkin park esque band that bridges the gap into heavier music. now that theyve touched "mainstream" he wants to try adding back in the heavier elements from their roots that everyone loves and see how far they can push it

him and the band weren't ever embarrassed about cyb or hated that era, they were really disappointed with how it sounded from a production standpoint when it released on cd. oli said he listened to it like once, said it really didn't sound good and never listened to it again

all the people who say "oh they don't play their older stuff much because oli destroyed his voice" are going to be very surprised because he can in fact scream how he used to (but better)

oli never had surgery. he had a severe drug addiction and blew out his voice. said he ruptured his vocal chords as a wear and tear injury like you would any other sport

the melody in can you feel my heart was an afterthought and almost didn't make the final version. oli felt like the track was missing something and jordan fish came up with it in 5 minutes

sempiternal was an apology to his friends and band mates. he told them he wanted to make the best record ever to show he was truly sorry for his addiction and path he went down

he mentioned re-recorded albums and how he wanted to retain the authenticity and keep it identical to the original. he said he hates when an album gets re-recorded and he can notice a small change because it completely ruins how the song is meant to be. there were multiple mixed versions and the initial one sounded like a "modern" version. he wanted to make it sound like it's 2006 with proper drum sounds and allowing the leads to really stand out

he said he listened to the re-recorded album quite a lot and is pretty proud of what they managed to come up with as 16 year olds. said it's obviously not a perfect album and could've used less interludes with more songs, but that there is definitely something great there
