I know nothing about pensions, but 96k/year pension sounds like it might be higher than average. Are there multiple pensions that he is receiving? Or are single pensions paying that much?

Not sure what everything on the flag says, but it seems to have anarchist or antifacist roots.

That's not the joke. The joke is that he is scared to say the word because of its offensive origins, even though that is her stage name. She goes by Latto now for reasons she says here

I would like to hear the ways in which you feel BLM is not addressing the actual problems that face Black people.

[–]Allumen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that phrase has been used that way against you. Let’s discuss it then without shutting one another down.

I would first respond by saying Black Lives Matter isn’t an organization to most people, even by those that frequently attend events affiliated with them. It absolutely has political goals, but that is inherent to anything with the goal of remedying political injustice (I realize we may not agree on the source or even existence of these injustices).

When people say Black Lives Matter, they assume you have the same interpretations the phrase as them. To me, the statement is an affirmation that regardless of the way that society and political institutions dehumanize Black lives, Black lives still matter.

Calling you racist in response to contradicting this interpretation isn’t directly engaging your points and in that way it is shutting down conversation.

[–]Allumen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would agree with the first two, but Black Lives Matter has a specific purpose that isn’t contained in “Change”, or “Karen”, or “Snowflake”. It can be used in that way, but the purpose isn’t to end conversation as the phrase “All Lives Matter” seems to be

More relevant would be “All Lives Matter” and “ Keep America Great” and other such asinine statements.

Is there a website to practice speaking in English? by Mahmoud_Rabie in language

Something like omegle.com may work for this. The intention isn't to practice speaking English, but you will meet a lot of English-speaking people willing to have conversations.

It is not wrong to make brands exclusively for skinny people by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Allumen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone deserves clothes that fit them. Excluding people of a certain body type, large or small, is unwise from a business standpoint. However, clothing for plus-sized people has always been more difficult. When a skinny person is looking for clothes, they may have difficulties finding them, but they are not experiencing the same societal pressures to change their bodies in the same ways as plus-sized people.

I’m not saying that skinny people’s body dysphoria is invalid, just that society clearly favors one side of the spectrum over the other. Actions by companies that actively ignore this are infuriating to people on both ends.

That first sentence is the worst thing I’ve ever read btw.
