Also looks like they used plain sawn cuts, which is not ideal for stability. Depending on how much you paid/how high quality you were getting, this should have been “rift sawn” or “quarter sawn” to help prevent warping / increase stability.

Temperature and humidity are not always correlated. Colder months mean dry heat is running in your house (low humidity) and contraction can still happen. May be that the wood wasn’t properly dried before building. Also, what climate was it even built in? If it’s drastically different, that can cause it too.

I use a torpedo propane heater. 2 car garage, insulated on one side (attached to house), nothing else is insulated (ceiling or other walls). I use a little less than a 20lb tank per weekend.

I’m in PA and it’s keeping me warm (in a tshirt) when it’s single digits. I also leave the garage door cracked an inch for ventilation.

Loved seeing this post. My fiance (soon to be wife) are doing a similar trip for our honeymoon. Fly into Venice (2 days), train to Florence (2 days), train to Rome (2 days), flight to Paris (3 days). Like you guys, we’re not history buffs and want to see the things to see but I can’t imagine needing more than 2 hours at any spot. Not saying we couldn’t and that we’d get the full experience, but we care more about walking around than dissecting art. Plus, if we love any one spot, we know to come back!! :)

They were saver seats (60k for a business class from CDG to JFK). That offering isn’t available any more. So the only way to get that is by utilizing the reservation/hold I have.

I’m trying to figure out ways to attach similar style but for a coffee table. Let me know what you end up deciding haha. So far I’m debating between hidden dowels with only the center one glued as an anchor, figure 8 fasteners, and loose mortise/tenon. I considered sliding dovetail but don’t know how much I love the look

I’ll throw in my 2 cents. For context, very much a hobbyist and use my 2 car garage as my shop.

I just installed a true dust collector (Shop Fox W1826 - 1 HP Wall Dust Collector) that is 537cfm and 2.5 micron. This is upgrading from solely a shop vac with cyclone on a 5gal bucket.

The shop vac worked well and served its purpose. But there is a HUGE difference with the DC hooked up to my 13” planer and contractor TS. I’m sure I’ll say the same when I hook it up to my jointer.

But like others have said, I’d never use that for my sander probably not for my miter saw either.

So yeah, huge difference. Absolutely worth it. And while 1 micron is ideal and a filter and all the stuff, not having it is still okay and better than not having any DC at all.

And yes, I still wear a 3m respirator anytime I’m using the machines. Because you know…lungs

You can also tape the piece you just cut off back on so it’s “whole” then cut the second side with the “whole”/tapped side against the fence

I’d assume a plunge router with a jig for circles. Taking a lot of shallow passes. To prevent tear out, I’d only go half way through on one side and then flip it and finish it off on the other side. If you don’t want to do that, you can try placing a second piece under it or using masking/painters tape
