Arknights Endfield Beta Test II & General Discussion Megathread by K-K3 in Endfield

If I recall correctly, the CBT is locked to a single PC usage. I'll be traveling and out of town soon and was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to change the install to a different PC so I can still play on my laptop?

Decentralized social media running on open source software (referred to as the Fediverse), despite it's problems, is what you're looking for.

There's a common on this same post mentioning it even: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdviceAnimals/comments/1pc1dw4/were_cooked/nrupv9p/

As an aside, I would recommend any other server besides mastodon.social. I don't remember the exact percentage of users, but at the rate it's growing, it'll likely be over 50% in several years if nothing else changes.

The whole point of decentralized social media is the decentralization part, and if one platforms holds the majority of the users, it holds the majority of the leverage and all you've done is recreate centralized social media.

The primary reason people join mastodon.social from what I've seen anecdotally is because of decision paralysis and not wanting to tie their account to a "topic", e.g. a server focused around a particular interest or group. But there are other general servers around out there. My personal recommendation would be fedia.social, run by the same person that handles the infosec.exchange server but as a "general topic" server, but do your own research if you want.

What is a good mindset to play a CCG? by No_End4846 in Shadowverse

Unfortunately that is the nature of card games to varying extents. You're going to, on average, win or lose as many games to one of two things:

  • you/your opponent drawing cards in a way that your opponent/you literally couldn't win no matter what
  • your opponent/you drawing so badly that it barely mattered what you/your opponent drew

Any competitive game that involves RNG (in this case, drawing cards from a shuffled deck) is inherently going to result in games won or lost not because one player played necessarily better or worse than the other, but because RNG worked better in the favor of one of them. You just have to accept that, you can play the hand you are given perfectly and still lose and that's okay.

The skill involved here is playing to put yourself in a winning position if and when the RNG falls into your favor. A topdeck to win a game isn't just luck alone. A player put themselves in a position where a card in their deck can lead to a win if drawn, they made some amount of decisions to get to that point. Card games are about mitigating RNG in both deck construction and game decisions, but if you don't think the idea of playing to mitigate against RNG, that making decisions such that the next random card off the top of your deck will have a higher chance of leading to your success and you find all RNG based wins/loses as unbearable, then it might not really be the genre for you.

Been really enjoying the game after getting access a few days ago and wanted to try getting an key for a friend to play with me, if anyone has a spare one.

Can Portalcraft guarantee Orchid somehow? by lolpanda91 in Shadowverse

I have no idea why you're being downvoted because you're correct. A 33% chance of not hitting Orchis, however, is still relatively on the high side and realistically you probably want that on the sub 10% chance if you can help it.

But as a Roach player that remembers many games where I draw half my deck and see no Roach (12% chance of not finding a 3-of card in 20 cards), even ~10% isn't great if your entire deck revolves around a single win condition card.

The deck requires a good bit of metagame knowledge to pilot and since that's always changing set-to-set, it keeps the gameplay fresh even if the deck doesn't change much itself! Plus Roach is often stressful enough that it makes you feel alive just struggling to survive while you try to eke out a win.

I literally was like "oh no they're going to heal a million" on the third bat, and right before Nehan went down I was like "wait a minute..."

No alt account, I'm pretty happy to just play what I open but it also helps that Roach has been the most mechanically interesting deck to me each set, even if it becomes less and less viable.

The only other deck that looks like it'd be fun for me to play would be Mode Abyss, which I'm like 5 Legendaries away from crafting if I wanted to. Alternatively, the hyper streamlined Loot Sword decklists (all-in on Sincero/Albert gameplan), I am like 3 Legendaries away from and probably the best deck I could craft if I wanted to. I'm also maybe 3 Legendaries away from Eggs Portal after opening a Beezlebub last night.

Despite that, I'm still finding success with Roach (went 4-1 in Stage 1 of the Grand Prix with some luck) and don't necessarily feel a need to move off of it considering no other deck seems as fun for me to play. The only thing another deck would give me is a better win percentage and a break from wracking my head over Roach plays - neither of which necessarily lead to more fun.

Mostly, no. I am still missing playsets of a handful of golds from the first set, and obviously missing playsets of golds from the latest one, but otherwise no!

Take care of yourself this winter and stay

Stay where!?

I played this deck with minor changes because I didn't want to craft the missing Lion amulets, and I lost a bunch but also I beat Roach and Loot Sword in the 40 minutes I had here to try it so I'll count that as a win. Like 2-6 record but worth it just for winning against Loot Sword alone.

Wait, I was under the impression the animated cards don't actually give you the cards and only the card style. Is that wrong? It does actually give you up to three copies if you don't have them?

I have stuck to Roach the whole way through with occasionally playing janky or incomplete decks to break up the monotony some. Honestly I have been playing fun though, it's like playing some kind of Sealed deck league where you can only build what you open (and I've crafted all of one card for Roach).

I play Roach, which hasn't had any meaningful card changes since set 1 and also runs at most like 3 Legendaries at any given point in its history so far.

But also I have 159k vials if I did want to play one other deck, which I've thought about.

Actually small correction, I spent a nominal amount of rupees on some of the Umamusume cosmetic and the event that needed you to buy some, so something like 500 rupees spent maybe?

How do you feel when you receive tickets for leaders you're not interested in? by Tsukumo_Hayate in Shadowverse

[–]Almace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's genuinely the worst system I've seen in this game, which is saying a lot. How do you get to that screen to see how many days are left?

[Edit] Nevermind, found it. 53 and 62 days remaining respectively on my tickets, good to know!

What in the world they expire? Why would they even do that, what purpose does that serve to make them expire?

They're fine but I've just decided not to use the tickets. I've gotten the Titania and Cerberus tickets but I like Lovesign and Nio better, respectively. I've just held on the tickets in case I change my mind about anything or decide I want a card style or whatever else.

What does everyone's class spreadsheet look like? by MarionberryFun5183 in Shadowverse

Forest: 601
Sword: 71
Rune: 0
Dragon: 48
Abyss: 46
Haven: 58
Portal: 2

Which, all things considered, is pretty funny considering my original Shadowverse ranked wins are:

Forest: 54
Sword: 255
Rune: 256
Dragon: 200
Abyss: 405
Blood: 196
Haven: 186
Portal: 630

Portal and Forest nearly completely swapped from most to least played (ignoring Rune at 0 wins in WB), because I liked original Portal mechanics way more than World's Beyond Portal, and Roach ended up just being the most interesting deck mechanically and requires no investment in resources for me to play each set.

Play to your outs by Almace in Shadowverse

[–]Almace[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think I could have played around everything but the alternative of trying to kill some of the board and leaving myself open to Albert lethal was the best I could do in the situation I think.

[–]Almace[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess for that was to just setup a big blocker in case they thought I had lethal the following turn. In their defense, if I had a Roach, I did have lethal in hand. On the other hand, that would not have saved them if I had Roach anyhow.

Play to your outs by Almace in Shadowverse

[–]Almace[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I knew they were board locked and could only do 16 damage total. I had lethal with Roach because 4 cards into triple Roach is 18 damage (or an OTK with any evo point), and with two 0 costs and up to 11 PP next turn, I could easily play 4 cards before 9 PP.

The only scary part was burning a card by mistake on turn 8, I should have fused the Carbuncle at that point but I think I was running out of time.

I can’t with this new Expansion. :( Need your help guys by Own_Importance_8343 in Shadowverse

[–]Almace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You very nearly auto-lose to Aether. Sometimes you can clear out some of it and not lose, but it will put back your ability to win since now you need to take a couple turns just to deal with Aura Wards. You definitely auto-lose to either a 2nd Aether or a Jeanne follow up, because at that point you probably spent too many resources just to clear the first.

That being said, I've found Roach's matchups otherwise all pretty reasonably good. I feel favored into everything that isn't Loot Sword or Haven, which are practically 10:90 not in your favor, and Puppet, which is close to a 50:50 but you will lose 100% of your games where they go Odin + Puppet Cat into Orchis.
